3 Talks by Leading Astrologers

10am-11.30am
Astrology in Everyday Life: A Talk by Phoebe Wyss
It’s sad that the majority of people in our society are missing out on the benefits offered by astrology – above all its potential for illuminating the deeper meaning of human experience. Each day, indeed each hour, is characterised by a particular mix of the astrological energies.
These colour our thinking, feeling and doing, and manifest in the events we see happening around us in the world. However once we’ve become familiar with the signs and planets, we can recognise their signatures as they emerge in our lives, and that helps us make the best use of them. But above all we must learn to honour these universal creative forces, worshipped by the ancients as divinities as they manifest continually in and around us, weaving vast universal patterns of significance.
Perhaps in the end we are just channels through which these forces flow, and any sense of a self separate from them is an illusion!
Phoebe Wyss is a Hove astrologer with 35 years experience in giving consultations, courses and workshops and is an experienced public speaker. She’s published an astrology board game, two books on the astrological archetypes and her latest book on archetypal astrology and the new paradigm was published in 2014. See www.astrophoebe.com

Herschel, Uranus and Mary Shelley’s Vision of Horror: A Talk by Alex Trenoweth
The discovery of the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, have “coincided” with major paradigm shifts in philosophy, literature and medicine. Beginning with Herschel’s discovery of Uranus, Alex explores the impact of this event on religion and scientific reasoning and the eventual emergence of the one greatest examples of Gothic literature, Frankenstein. Considered to be way ahead of its time, the controversial book still haunts our collective dreams well into the 21st Century and begs the question: Have we made the world of better place or have we simply made life a more terrifying existence?
Alex is an MA graduate of the Cultural Astronomy and Astrology course at Bath Spa University (2007) and has gained recognition as an outstanding schoolteacher for her tireless and innovative education of adolescents.
Her unique expertise in both astrology and teaching, coupled with ground-breaking research, has led her to her write “Growing Pains,” a book aimed at helping parents and teachers support and guide young people into maturity. In addition, Alex was voted “Best International Astrologer, 2015” by the Krishnamuti Institute of Astrology in India for the energetic presentation of her original and thought provoking investigation.

The Seven Spheres and Metal Alchemy: A talk by Nick Kollerstrom
Nick will show how the characters of the visible planets are expressed in the seven traditional metals. These metals in solution will actually respond to conjunctions of their planets. We get some insight into how the metals can be used in accord with the being-ness of the planets, for example silver for the moon and copper for Venus.
Nick is a science historian who has always had an interest in Hermetic matters. He has produced Britain’s moon-gardening calendar for thirty years and manages the New Alchemy press.
