September 4th: Sedna Consciousness, the Soul’s Path of Destiny

A Talk by Alan Clay

Discover the evolutionary spiritual power of Sedna, the new esoteric outer limit of our solar system and learn of the profound implications for society and for each of us individually in the coming years, as she approaches her closest point to Earth. Participants will be able to calculate their Sedna house position, and in the second half we’ll study the Sedna house interpretations to understand the influence of this evolutionary planet in our personal lives.

New Zealander Alan Clay has been a practising astrologer for over 40 years, with a background as a humanistic astrologer inspired by the work of Dane Rudhyar. Over the past 20 years this has broadened into a study of Chiron and the Centaurs and more recently into the newly discovered Dwarf Planets. His book, ‘Sedna Consciousness, the Soul’s Path of Destiny’ was very well received at its launch at UAC in Chicago and reviewers have called it: ‘a ground-breaking book’, ‘essential reading for astrologers’, ‘a well-written, well-researched, and easily readable book’ and ‘a treasure trove of information and inspiration’. www.dwarfplanetastrology.com

September 18th: How did we get Here from There?

A Talk by Mandi Lockley

Mandi Lockley

Jupiter and Saturn are contradictory energies, but the push and pull of their cycle is a reliable witness to how ideas and potentials become reality. Asking how did we get here from there, we’ll glance into the past for an overview of the Jupiter Saturn cycle through its elemental epochs, focusing particularly on how history has been shaped by developments in how we communicate and spread information. We’ll also consider how the world has changed over the last 200+ years during the Great Mutation Cycle in the Earth signs, and the speed of change over the last 40 years as the Great Conjunctions started transitioning into the Air signs

Mandi Lockley is a London-based-astrologer. As well as seeing clients, she speaks at conferences and to groups and her articles have appeared in the AA Journal, Infinity Astrological Magazine, at Astro Dienst and on her Astroair blog, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year. Mandi studied at the London School of Astrology and holds the school’s Diploma. https://mandilockley.blogspot.com/

October 2nd: Healing the Generations: Astrological Patterns in Family Birth Charts

A Talk by Phoebe Wyss

Phoebe Wyss

The first thing that catches the eye when we compare the charts of close family members over several generations is how birthdays cluster in the same groups of signs. Phoebe once carried out a survey which showed in most families a surprisingly high number of conjunctions and oppositions between sun signs alone. And in nearly half the families investigated there were birthdays on the same day, including one example in which three people shared the same birthday!  In this talk Phoebe will analyse this phenomenon astrologically, using examples from the Royal Family.  And she’ll discuss how astrology can help heal family rifts and feuds through pointing out how much in common we have with our family members, even with the black sheep among them, and thus increase mutual tolerance and understanding.

Phoebe Wyss is a Hove astrologer with 40 years experience in giving consultations, courses and workshops and is an experienced public speaker. She’s published an astrology board game, two books on the astrological archetypes and her latest book – Inside the Cosmic Mind: Archetypal Astrology and the New Cosmology – was published in 2014.

October 16th: Vedic Synastry: Finding a Fruitful and Sustainable Union

A Talk by Sonal Sachdeva

The Vedic tradition that Sonal follows uses a totally different way of matching couples. The 4th-10th houses and their rulers, along with Sun, Moon and Ascendant amongst various other factors, are instrumental in making an assessment of whether two people are well matched, whether it is an intimate relationship or a business one. Sidereal and tropical charts as well as the mansions of the moon are used in the Vedic system. If you don’t have them, you can download your tropical and sidereal (Sayana and Nirayana Jyotish) charts free to bring along to the talk at the following link: https://circleofdivineastrology.com/your-planets

Sonal Sachdeva is a film-maker, new media enthusiast and an astrologer who studied under Liz Greene at the CPA. Her films deal with social issues, the environment, and the ways people from different cultures live, think and feel. In 2010 she founded a group Circle of Divine Astrology, which holds events, discussions, talks and multimedia projects in London. Circle of Divine Video project online has been first of its kind to document interviews with astrologers and from practitioners of alternative healing arts from all around the world.

The dramatic astro-transits for September/October promised an autumn of Sumo Politics. Roy will take stock of this. We will then discuss in detail Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn transits through 2020, and consider more long term possibilities following the December 2020 Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius

Roy Gillett B.Ed (Hons Ldn), a student of Tibetan Buddhism and President of The Astrological Association, has been a full-time astrologer and consultant since 1976. He has been an astrology software adviser since 1988, is an astro-finance researcher and an international conference speaker.  Roy has published mundane forecasts from 1978, writing The Astrological Journal’s “Working with the Planets” column since 2002. Shakespeare and astrology? Yes! The Bard consciously employs the archetypal language of astrology in his plays, which contain obvious references to the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars with their many layers of psychological, philosophical, and spiritual meanings. Join us as we explore the worldview underlying the plays and the personality model (based on the 4 elements) to give you keys to understanding these works in a fresh and original way.

Priscilla Costello, M.A. Dipl. CAAE is an educator, speaker, writer, and counselling astrologer with a life-long interest in Shakespeare and esoteric philosophy. With a career teaching English literature for over 30 years and a professional astrological practise also for over 30 years, she easily synthesizes the literary and the astrological. Priscilla has spoken widely internationally, written numerous articles and reviews for astrological and psychological journals, for Gnosis magazine, and for the Urania Trust (see www.uraniatrust.org/articles for one on some astrological keys to “Romeo and Juliet”). December 4th: The Four Elements

A Talk by Phoebe Wyss

Phoebe Wyss

We’ll never properly understand our zodiac sign until we’ve understood the element behind it. Neither will we understand the behaviour of significant people in our life, who have a different zodiac sign, until we’ve explored their dominant element in depth. This talk, which is recommended for beginners, is also suitable for more advanced astrology students. It will expand our understanding of earth, fire, air and water as cosmic archetypes experientially, putting flesh on the bones of the abstract intellectual concepts we encounter in most beginners’ astrology books and courses. So come prepared for new experiences and new insights!
