Acyuta-Bhava Das
Acyuta-Bhava Das

When the planet Neptune was seen for the very first time through a telescope, it was conjunct Saturn. In this talk, we shall explore the symbolism of Saturn across the ages, while also exploring the possibility that the ancient Saturn is just as mystical and other- worldly as any of the modern, outer planets – including Neptune!

Acyuta-bhava Das (Adam Elenbaas) is a professional astrologer, author, and yoga instructor/studio owner from the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Adam holds an M.A. and MFA in Creative Writing. His first book, a Publisher’s Weekly top book of the year, called Fishers of Men: The Gospel of an Ayahuasca Vision Quest was published by Tarcher/Penguin in 2010. 4 August: The Astrological Neptune – the Ancient Cult of Water – A Virtual Talk with Cate Reidy

Cate Reidy
Cate Reidy

Astrologically, Neptune is traditionally associated with the element of water, the sign of Pisces and also the 12th house.  However, in studying a horoscope, we consider its watery presence in any one of the houses and signs, and weigh up its influence on various planets, angles, nodes and other sensitive degrees within the birth-chart.  In doing so, we discover how Neptune has a full range of metaphorical presentations, from that of a wellspring, a fast moving current, and even a flood.  And, during those times of personal transition when previous structures in our lives are plunged into deep waters, the experience of just ‘holding one’s head above water’ is a common one.  Afterwards, such structures end up dissolved, cleansed or washed away, by which time, a sensitivity to new insights – frequently communicated in our dreams – have been ushered in, along with a tidal change and possibilities of new beginnings.   During this talk, Cate will consider the ancient ‘Cult of Water’ – a spiritual tradition rich in symbolism, still relevant for today – and how we might understand Neptune’s presence within the horoscope from both psychological and spiritual perspectives.

Cate Reidy is a psycho-spiritual astrologer with a special interest in transpersonal transitions including awakenings.  Having originally trained in traditional, psychological, and transpersonal approaches, her long-held interest in this branch of Astrology, stems from many years experience of working in mental health, homelessness projects and addiction treatment settings, as well as in private practice.  And further, from many years exploring archetypal patterning communicated in dreams; inherited patterns in family histories, and pre-rebirth narratives.  Cate’s approach reflects sensitivity to spiritual/mental/emotional challenges occurring during those times when the ‘emerging self’ awakens. She has a deep respect for the creative resources underpinning each individual’s patterning and their inbuilt capacity to regulate their own well-being.  In addition to her astrological work, she is a Jungian Sand Play practitioner, a director at Spiritual Crisis Network (SCN), and a Folklorist – a member of the Folklore Society.   She is currently undergoing sensitivity training at the College of Psychic Studies in London – a work in progress and a privilege.   For more information, visit:

21 July: Karmic Echoes – Heredities in Family Charts – A Virtual Talk with Jean MacLean

Jean MacLean
Jean MacLean

If we look at three generations of birth charts within a family, we will see synchronic astrological links. The same and repeating four to five Zodiac signs, playing out between the Sun, Moon, Ascendant and Mid-heaven. Strong links between first and third generations e.g. grandparents and grandchildren seem especially emphasised. It appears these connections weave as karmic threads through  the generations. It raises the question of do unresolved areas of parents birth charts pass to their children, grandchildren. Are we simply patterns of energy seeking to resolve ourselves ? Do we enter our lives through our Ascendant into a soul group, that will enable us to expand our consciousness, until we no longer need to return here in a physical form ? Or are we so attached within our personal family ancestry, that the process of entering and departing this Earth plane, is about continuing evolving and teaching our family members?

Jean Maclean B.A. is a qualified teacher and an experienced, practising astrologer of over 40 years. Having taught in state and further education all her working life, she brings learned skills in communicating ideas and information. Her Aries Sun is in her 3rd House and Jupiter in Sagittarius in her 11th House. She facilitates the South Downs Astrology Circle that meets monthly at her home in Eastbourne. With Covid, astrology topics are now discussed in weekly Zoom sessions with other East Sussex astrologers. She has a regular flow of clients and also gives astrology lessons to students.

My astrology journey began in childhood, growing up in Somerset. My father took me outside on starry nights showing me the star groups and constellations. The wonder of the those skies was magic, and by the age of twenty one, I was studying and researching astrology “

Courses, workshops and study with The White Eagle Lodge, Liz Greene, Jonathan Cainer and other astrologers, were important learning. In the eighties, she facilitated the weekly meet-ups of astrologers in the Medway Towns. She created and organised two landmark spiritual festivals in Whitstable, Lightwaves 2011 and Lightwaves 2012. Jean completed an introductory course in Astronomy at Herstmonceux Observatories, adding depth to her astrology insights. She is at present researching ancestry and astrological patterns.

Julian Venables
Julian Venables

At this current juncture of human evolution, we must remember the importance of elemental thinking when comprehending and responding to ecological problems. If we use the four element consciousness and language, we can engage directly with the world to evoke many kinds of wonder – sensuous, poetic, cognitive, scientific, reverential. The four elements contain the loftiest and most imaginative thinking, whilst providing us with a relevant and renewed vision of the environment, and the possibilities of the world we would wish to create.

Julian Venables has started writing a new and original format of media horoscopes which he calls ‘The Weekly Almanac’, it is available to view every week on his website where you can also sign up for a free newsletter. Julian is currently researching and writing his first astrology book, which doesn’t promise enlightenment through astrology, but guarantees a new perspective and the opportunity for eternal happiness through knowing your planets!  He is a local astrologer with the Faculty Diploma (D.F.Astrol.S). Cat Neligan
Cat Neligan

Have you ever felt yourself being pulled towards something? A calling to paint, write, dance, sing, travel, teach…? Whatever you’ve felt, and whether you’ve followed that call or not, that is the work of your personal daimon. The daimon goes by many names and guises. For some, it’s their Holy Guardian Angel. For others, it’s their calling. Others see it as trickster, or worse, a demon. In this talk, we explore the cultural variations on the daimon, the origins of it and why it’s been so sought after (intellectually, spiritually or otherwise) for thousands of years. We’ll focus on the use of astrology to understand the personal daimon, identify your own daimonic experiences and explore how it shows up for you, using your birth chart.

Cat Neligan‘s fascination with astrology began as an extension of her interest in personality typology. She soon found out the study of the stars had much, much more to offer, and she has been learning as much as she can ever since. Cat now incorporates astrology into her work coaching creative introverts, helping artists, writers, musicians and all kinds of creatives to better understand themselves, identify their calling, and share their work with the world.

5 May: Local Space & Cycles or Circles, Centers and Circulation – A Virtual Talk with Michael Erlewine

Michael Erlewine
Michael Erlewine

Michael shows us how Local Space is no subtle plane, but a personal landscape in bold and clear strokes and tailor-made to fit the psyche of each individual. He will then present a key introduction to the empowerment of space; to the use and meaning of astrological coordinate systems and centres.

Michael Erlewine has had several careers. As a musician, he was active in the Michigan folk scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1961 he hitchhiked with Bob Dylan, and had travelled to Greenwich Village, Venice, California, and San Francisco. He and his brother Dan founded a blues band called The Prime Movers. When the drummer left, they replaced him with Iggy Pop (James Osterberg), then 18 years old, giving him the nickname “Iggy”. Michael Erlewine and his band, the Prime Movers, were inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2015.

In 1977 Erlewine founded Matrix Software. He was the first person to program astrology on microcomputers and make astrological programs available to the astrological community. 21 April: The Venus/Sun Cycle – A Virtual Talk with Angela Cornish

Angela Cornish
Angela Cornish

Venus whether evening star, Vesper, or morning star, Lucifer, shines brightly like a diamond in our sky. As the Sun’s consort, she dances provocatively around him; never too far in front (occidental) or too far behind (oriental). But does, as the ancients believed, the Sun/Venus cycle contribute to our understanding of relationship issues in horary charts?

Angela Cornish has practised and taught astrology in classes, talks and workshops for many years. Her special interests are horary and forecasting techniques. She holds a Diploma of the Mayo School of Astrology and the STA Diploma of Traditional Horary Astrology. She is currently Secretary to the Astrological Association of Great Britain and Secretary of the Association of Professional Astrologers International. She was honoured with the Charles Harvey award for Exceptional Services to Astrology in 2018.

7 April: My Moon is on your Mars, are we compatible?! – A Virtual Talk with Fernanda Paiva

Fernanda Paiva
Fernanda Paiva

Astrology is famous for promising enlightening insights about love: sun sign compatibility, chart comparison (also known as synastry), composite charts… There are a myriad of different techniques that promise revealing the amount of compatibility between people. But how do they work? Is it really possible to tell from 2 astrology charts if their owners would get along or not? In this talk we will be having fun exploring some of these techniques and using a few examples in order to understand compatibility astrology a bit further (to make the most of this evening, a basic understanding of astrology is required).

Fernanda Paiva is a practicing astrologer with a BA. in History and she acquired her astrology certificate with distinction at the London School of Astrology. She has been published by Flare UK, IAM Infinity magazine, the AA Journal and at the astrodienst website, and she is currently doing her masters’ thesis for the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales. Israel Ajose

Primary clockwise house prediction technique is a very old predictive technique hardly used in modern astrology, but is a way to predict very crucial pivotal changes, periods and themes in our life. In this technique each house shows chapter after chapter through a 7 year cycle, which further shows us specific years of the unfolding of the natal chart promise.

Israel Ajose D.Psych.Astrol is a dedicated student and teacher of astrology, tarot, and a consultant. He studied and completed full honours in psychological astrology at the centre of psychological astrology in London with Liz Greene. 3 March: How Medieval Astrologers Knew What You Really Wanted – A Virtual Talk with Chris Mitchell

Chris Mitchell

The twelfth century saw a huge translation movement in Western Europe, when Arabic texts were translated into Latin for the first time. The 12th-century scholar Roger of Hereford was teaching schoolkids some pretty sophisticated astrology based on these texts, including some techniques to find out what the client *really* wanted, in his book of “Intentions”. Knowing what the client’s intention in visiting the astrologer might almost be considered an early version of psychological astrology – just as a modern astrologer might draw up a consultation chart.

Chris Mitchell has a PhD from the University of Leicester on the topic of medieval astrology, is a tutor on the MA Cultural Astronomy and Astrology course at the University of Wales, and holds a diploma in Medieval Astrology from Astrologos. He has been actively involved in promoting and teaching astrology for 20 years, is on the board of the Astrological Association, and has given talks to groups and conferences in Europe and the US.

17 February: Chasing the Dragon: Draconic Astrology and Finding the Life Purpose – A Virtual Talk with Victor Olliver

Victor Olliver
Victor Olliver

Draconic (or nodal) astrology is an ancient Babylonian system which identifies a person’s soul purpose in this life. The birth (or event) chart is reset by moving the North Node to the start of Aries, creating a Moon-referenced chart to be read by the side of the tropical (Sun-referenced) natal chart. Victor will examine the charts of Greta Thunberg, Meghan and Harry, Heddy LaMarr, Queen Victoria and many more, including his own, in demonstrating the amazing accuracy of this little-known system.

Victor Olliver has been editor of the Astrological Association’s membership magazine, The Astrological Journal, for over six years. And he also writes the stars column for The Lady magazine. He has a distinction diploma in mundane and natal astrology from the Mayo School of Astrology. Before becoming a full-time astrologer with a prestigious clientele, he was an award-winning feature writer and editor and his many interviews and features appeared in such publications as Marie Claire, Woman’s Journal, The Sunday Times Magazine and The Times. 3 February: Astrological Mavericks – A Virtual Talk with Michael Bartlett

Michael Bartlett
Michael Bartlett

Some of us are walking billboards for the planets. We wear their mark in a way that is simultaneously unseen, yet seen by all. If you or someone you know has a planet conjunct one of the birth chart’s angles, this is a big billboard and the mark is not likely washed away.  Planets conjunct the AS/DS and/or MC/IC are super powered archetypal energies expressed in a person’s life. Michael will present observations from research for his book Astrological Mavericks which illustrate the dramatic effects such placements make in an individual’s life and how they impact society and thereby change the world. Surprising examples of both negative and positive expression will be illustrated for the 48 placements for each planet -not just the standard two of sign and house. Join us on Wednesday 3 February 2021 for a lively and informative talk presenting anecdotal evidence from the lives of numerous mavericks who continue to change our world. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion.

Michael Bartlett focuses on traditional and esoteric astrology. 20 January: Celebrating the Venus Shamanic Cycle and the Influential Women of the Year – A Virtual Talk with Pam Carruthers

Pam Carruthers
Pam Carruthers

From Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Greta Thunberg, from Jacinda Arden to Kamala Harris, 2020 has seen the remarkable rise of women in the news and taking centre stage. Looking at the charts of some of these influential women of 2020, Pam will explore which Venus Shamanic Archetype they embody. When Venus is 10 degrees ahead of the Sun while still retrograde, it is rising as a Morning Star. This is called the heliacal rise and shamanic astrology calls this “The Shamanic Overtone.” Venus rose as a Morning Star on June 10 2020 and began a new 19 month cycle, so we are currently in the Shamanic Overtone of Gemini.

When Venus is retrograde she conjuncts the Sun in only five signs of the Zodiac in a lifetime! From 1966 through 2047 these are Aries; Scorpio; Gemini; Capricorn; Leo/Virgo. In this presentation find out which if these is your Shamanic Overtone.

2021 sees Venus change direction to become an Evening Star. Key Dates to watch are when Venus disappears from the morning sky on February 13th at 15 degrees Aquarius. Venus then meets with the Sun on 25th March at 6 degrees Aries. Venus rises as an Evening Star on May 3rd at 24 degrees Taurus. While Venus is invisible you may find you are less inclined to be social. Venus will begin her retrograde period on December 19th 2021 in Capricorn conjunct Pluto and start a new Morning Star Shamanic Cycle on January 13th 2022 at 15 degrees Capricorn.

Pam Carruthers is a qualified professional Vedic and Western astrologer. She works from a spiritual perspective and is a student of A Course in Miracles. An experienced Spiritual Life Coach and Trainer leading workshops since 2000, Pam helps clients discover the hidden patterns that are holding them back in their lives. 6 January: How Astrology is Becoming the New ‘Lingua Franca’ of the Emerging Consciousness Revolution – A Virtual Talk with Steve Judd

Steve Judd
Steve Judd

Coinciding with the technological evolution of recent decades, astrology is increasingly becoming the ‘go to’ option for people wanting to get a different perspective on their place in an ever changing world. Synchronistically, the acceleration of evolution on planet Earth can be mapped using both astrology and consciousness evolution as metaphors for the startling changes happening on the planet we inhabit. By using astrology as a referential and psychological tool to understand our past with increasing confidence, we can project forward with stronger surety to estimate the potentials for the near and even distant future. This workshop will look at the role of astrologers at this time and ask the question whether or not they have an ethical and/or moral responsibility to provide an alternative vision from a more objective, detached and impersonal perspective.

Steve Judd is an astrologer with 40 years experience, bringing astrology to the world. He works on character analysis, location and relationship issues, past explanation, present expansion and future exploration. After leaving the army at twenty, Steve found his first astrological book in 1977 and then spent a decade learning astrological basics. He is totally self-taught. Since then, he expanded his ability by doing many thousands of chart readings. Steve has considerable experience on local media and has appeared on national TV. In 1994, after many years working in the Glastonbury Festival Green Fields, Steve was a founding member of the Big Green Gathering. In July 2005 he was awarded the Master of Arts Degree in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the Sophia Centre, Bath Spa University, making him at the time only the thirteenth person in the world to hold that qualification.

4 November: How Archetypal Astrology Works: an Experiential Approach to Churchill’s Chart – A Virtual Talk with  Phoebe Wyss

Phoebe Wyss
Phoebe Wyss

After introducing the cosmological model on which her top-down method of chart interpretation is based, Phoebe will demonstrate it experientially by exploring the chart of Winston Churchill. When he took control of the country in 1940 it stood alone and unprepared in the face of a Nazi invasion. Against great odds he managed to successfully lead it through the perilous war years, proving the truth of the saying, ‘Cometh the moment, cometh the man’. Today he’s honoured as the greatest statesman of the 20th century but is this title justified? Astrology can lift the veil and reveal what lay behind the public facade, delving into the taboo areas of his biography, while also defining his traits that led the British people to trust him and follow him through the turmoil to victory.

Phoebe Wyss is a Hove astrologer with 40 years experience in giving consultations, courses and workshops and is an experienced public speaker. She’s published an astrology board game, two books on the astrological archetypes and her latest book – Inside the Cosmic Mind: Archetypal Astrology and the New Cosmology – was published in 2014.

16 September: Journey to the Centre of the Twelfth House – A Virtual Talk with Michael Bartlett

Michael Bartlett
Michael Bartlett

We live in an age when the qualities of the 12th house have been all but neglected and/or ridiculed as woo-woo. There is very little information available to give us guidance through these misty-hallowed halls and chthonic watery depths. So, unless we intentionally work with the archetypal themes, most likely because we have natal 12th house planets, we easily become lost when planets transit and progress there. This one-hour talk will cast some light into one of the most shadow-filled and misunderstood houses in astrology. Learning the 12th house lessons gives us amazing strength to not only survive, but thrive in these chaotic times.

Michael Bartlett focuses on traditional and esoteric astrology while utilising the skills he learned from Core Energetics. He employs this body-oriented process in concert with his highly intuitive nature, three decades of business experience and two decades of astrological experience and understanding. Michael is the author of a book about individuals with planets on the chart’s angles entitled: of Astrological Mavericks: Do you have what it takes to change the world? He offers webinars, workshops, intensives and he is also teacher for Kepler College. Visit for his blog, free radio and YouTube talks and for more information.

2 September: Beyond the Bounds: Black Moon Lilith – A Virtual Talk with Carole Taylor

Carole Taylor

The Black Moon (also known as Lilith) occupies the empty focal point of the Moon’s elliptical orbit around the Earth. In folklore, Lilith is the first wife of Adam, created not from his rib, as Eve was, but from primal earth like her husband, giving her equal status. Refusing to be betray her own nature, she chose exile rather than submission. Long associated with a negative image of the feminine as demon or sorceress, on a collective level she is the untamed spirit of nature, whilst on a personal level this is a place where we often have to fight to claim our territory or express our potential. Here we may have found ourselves diminished by authority and pushed to the margin or playing the renegade. We will explore this powerful feminine archetype both in natal charts and as an image relevant to current issues of climate change and ecology.

Carole Taylor MA, FFAstrolS is a former Faculty President and currently Director of Studies and Online Classes Manager. She has been a tutor at the Faculty since 2001, contributing extensively to the course material. Carole runs an astrological practice and has co-tutored workshops for Heaven & Earth Workshops in Bali and Goa. She holds the MA in Myth, Cosmology & the Sacred from Canterbury Christ Church University and is a tutor on the Sophia MA in Cultural Astronomy & Astrology at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.

19 August: Intro to Holistic Locational Astrology – A Virtual Talk with Moses Siregar

Moses Siregar
Moses Siregar

Moses has spent decades in the trenches helping clients with locational astrology questions, and has along the way learned and discovered a great deal about how this relatively modern approach to astrology really works. He teaches about the six pillars of permanence in relocation astrology, only two of which (parans and angular mapping) were a part of the original Astro*Carto*Graphy, one of which is his own exciting ‘discovery.’

Moses Siregar was the first president of the Association for Young Astrologers in 2004, and the organizer of The Blast Astrology Conference in Sedona. He has been in practice since 1994, and uses an even mix of vedic and western astrology, while his real calling has been the study and refinement of locational astrology. You can follow his astrological updates at his Facebook page, Astrology, the Cosmic Mirror with Moses Siregar and his website.

5 August: Ars Magna, The Great Art of Transformation via Astrology, Alchemy & Magic – A Virtual Talk with Gary P Caton

Gary Caton
Gary P Caton

The Hermetic paradigm consists of three deeply inter-related sister arts, which are meant to be understood and practiced together. By reviewing some history and fundamental classical concepts such as qualities, elements and temperament, we can understand an archetypal process and cycle of transformation illustrated in the ancient mandala known as the “square of opposites.” This, in turn, can deeply illuminate the nature of current transformations, such as the shift of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions from Earth to Air.

1 July: Aspect Patterns Made Easy – A Virtual Talk with Rod Chang

Rod Chang
Rod Chang

T-square, Grand Cross, Kite, Finger of God (Yod), these magical names draw our attention, as astrologers, but how to interpret them becomes a challenging task for beginners. Most astrologers understand that both T-square and Grand Cross bring challenges and stress but how aspect patterns influence us is more complex. When aspects form a beautiful picture in our chart, is not just the image of a cross or finger that we should worry about, it is more important how they weave the whole chart together.  When we examine our chart with aspect patterns it suddenly becomes “The Castle of Crossed Destinies“ and hard to understand.  In this talk, Rod will share his simple and easy method to break down the complicated aspect pattern and weave it together again to understand how it influences us. If you know the basic way to read a horoscope, you can interpret aspect patterns.

Rod Chang has studied astrology for over twenty years, both through self-study and also at respected institutes like the Faculty of Astrological Studies.  His favourite aspects are mundane astrology and a humanistic approach to astrology. He has written a number of books on astrology in Chinese and has taught astrology in Mandarin for around ten years. He is co-founder of the Academy of Astrology with Jupiter Lai, From 2015 Rod has been invited to several international conferences include Poland, United Kingdom and 2016 Australia FAA International Astrology conference.

3 June: The Terrible Forty-fives and Other Critical Ages – A Virtual Talk with Faye Blake-Cossar

Faye Blake-Cossar
Faye Blake-Cossar

The horoscope can be seen as a clock. This idea was developed further in the 60′s by Bruno Huber, a Swiss astrologer who developed the technique of Age Progression and the Age Point which in his view highlights psychological development. Faye will briefly explain the 72-year Huber cycle and provide case studies showing that it has relevance for companies and countries as well as individuals. She has used this technique for over 25 years and has found it one of the most useful tools in the Astro toolkit. Her dissertation for her MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology offered a model for organisational development based on this idea. One of her papers also researched experiences of clients at age 45, a particularly interesting time, using this system. What time is it? This talk will show you how to tell the time in your life, your company and your country. If you are tuning in have your chart available with Koch Houses.

Faye Blake-Cossar is founder of the Amsterdam School of Astrology. She is a therapist and business consultant, who holds an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. She has spoken often at major international conferences. Her book, Using Astrology to Create a Vocational Profile, forms the basis of her tailor-made Vocational Apprenticeship program. She writes a monthly free blog – The Monthly Planet –  which is available on her website. Her school site offers some free resources for astrologers.

Think of someone in your life you’re always fighting but can’t get away from, and it’s likely that a chart comparison will show oppositions between your two suns, moons or ascendants. In this talk Phoebe will explore the six natural polarities in the zodiac to discover what we can learn from the oppositions found in our birth chart and synastry charts. What are the strategies of war and peace between  Aries and Libra, for example?  How does a Taurus-Scorpio battle differ from a Gemini-Sagittarius skirmish? And how about insurrections and clamp-downs between Aquarius and Leo, or hunger strikes and vanishing acts between Virgo and Pisces? Could fighting losing battles in our close relationships be mirroring an on-going civil war within ourselves? Join us on Zoom at 7.45pm on Wednesday 20th May to find out!

6 May: Cosmic Chocolate: the Mesoamerican mythology and Western astrology of Theobroma cacao – A Virtual Talk with Marcos Patchett

Marcos Patchett

Most people think of chocolate as a sweet treat, which astrologers recognise as a classically Venereal substance with its associations of pleasure, indulgence, and romantic gifts.  But the tree Theobroma cacao, the source of the cocoa bean, has an ancient and venerable place in Mesoamerican mythology, with darker associations. It is a tree of the underworld, associated with the presence of ancestors in living human blood.  Cacao was used ritually to commune with the souls of the dead, attract good fortune, and seal contracts with the gods.  In this talk, Marcos Patchett explores the Mesoamerican mythology and star-lore associated with Cacao, and re-examines the astrological classification of chocolate.

Marcos Patchett is a Western medical herbalist, and a medical and horary astrologer.  He was the clinical supervisor for Middlesex University’s Western Herbal Medicine BSc & MSc courses from 2013-2018. He is currently an affiliate tutor for Kepler College (USA), QHP (UK), and the Academy of Astrology (UK, China and Taiwan).  His herbal medicine practice is based in Wood Green, north London. His first book, The Secret Life of Chocolate, is due for release in March 2020.
