In this talk we will explore how Tarot can become a powerful companion to astrological practice via three powerful themes: Imagery, Dialogue, and Guidance.

18 March: Beyond Venus & Mars: Why the Moon and Mercury Are the Real Priority in Relationships with Margaret Gray

For years, Relationship Astrology has prioritized the importance of natal Venus and Mars. Yet, all our close relationships rely far more on the Moon – our emotional needs and Mercury – our style of communication. Join me in exploring how these two planets and aspects to them, impact our ability to share emotional intimacy and mutual understanding, as well as their combined impact on Emotional Intelligence.
Margaret Gray has been a consulting and teaching astrologer for over 30 years. She is currently based in her native Dublin, although part of her heart remains in Hawaii! You’ll learn to view your horoscope from a fresh perspective, following a few simple steps that show how traditional techniques work in practice. Trav will keep things straightforward by using whole sign houses and the seven traditional planets.

While a few example charts will be shown, the focus of the day will be on participants’ charts. Handouts will be provided, and you will be asked to submit your birth details in advance so Trav can prepare your chart. All information received will be treated as confidential.

4 March: Intercepted Houses with Patricia Godden

In some house systems, signs, called intercepting signs, fall entirely within houses. Intercepting signs are often thought of as presenting frustrations but they offer the soul opportunities to develop its own way of expressing the energies of those signs. Interception also modifies the interpretation of any planets that fall within intercepting signs. In addition, the presence of intercepting signs means that other signs fall on two house cusps, again offering specific opportunities for soul growth.
Patricia Godden was a scientist in academia and then industry. A developing interest in spirituality led her to study astrology with the White Eagle School of Astrology. She now teaches, gives talks and is a consultant astrologer. Patricia has written three books: Housing Your Planets, Astrology, Crystals and Spirituality and Seeking the Soul. Each book gives spiritual insights into facets of astrology.
18 February: The Karmic Meaning of Retrograde Planets with Giorgia Pecora
Why do certain patterns in our lives feel so familiar, as if echoing through time? In this webinar, we’ll explore the karmic dimension of natal retrograde planets—astrological indicators of past life themes, inner rewinds, and lessons still in motion. Often misunderstood, retrogrades can reveal where the soul is revisiting unresolved stories, inner conflicts, or forgotten wisdom. We’ll unpack how to interpret them with nuance and how to work with their energy consciously—so we can stop repeating and start integrating.
Giorgia Pecora is a psychological astro-consultant and teacher whose work lives at the intersection of astrology, lineage healing, and the body. She specializes in karmic dynamics, shadow work, relationship astrology, and astro-genealogy, weaving in influences from theosophy, somatic practices, and shamanic work. She holds an MA in Astrogenealogy and is certified in Psychogenealogy through the International School of Psychogenealogy, giving her a unique ability to map ancestral patterns and emotional inheritance with precision. Since 2017, Giorgia has taught over thousands students with a style that’s clear, warm, and unmistakably Italian (yes, the hand gestures are part of the method).

4 February: Childhood Matters with Faye Blake

Astrology provides a unique framework for examining time and cycles. Initial triggers in childhood to important chart points set deep imprints, leading to important patterns in later life. Faye will discuss Inner Child theory and examine planets near the Ascendant to clarify these patterns. One astrological technique has proved invaluable for this work. The Huber Life Clock offers a really clear way of pinpointing where conclusions about life are formed. Once you understand these conclusions it can help you create healing strategies that can lead to a better future. Faye will discuss client examples and also discuss some from the audience . So bring your charts with Koch houses and include Ceres.
Faye Blake, founder of the Amsterdam School of Astrology, holds an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. She is an astrologer, therapist, business consultant and writer. Her free monthly blog, which she has published since 2006, can be found on her personal website. Faye is a noted speaker at international conferences, and her book, Vocational Astrology, forms the basis of her Vocational Apprenticeship program. Apart from encouraging personal development, her other passions include Ceres and the Huber Life Clock. She trained with the Hubers in Switzerland and has a background in Inner Child work, which she combines with astrology in her practice.
www.fayeblake.nl Faye’s other website www.asastrology.nl offers some free material for astrologers and shows upcoming astrological events.
21 January: Saturn Transits: Growing Up and Growing Down with Carole Taylor

Saturn encompasses both the heaviness of lead and the clarity of crystal. It can bind and trap us through depression, fear or envy, but equally it can bring focus, maturity and discernment. It reminds us of mortality and the passage of time – and yet the lead can also transmute into precious gold, slowly revealed through our labours. We will explore the meaning of Saturn, via myths, alchemy and the Hermetic tradition. We will then turn to the Saturn cycle and the transits of Saturn, which encourage the ripening of our gifts and the unfolding of our mature sense of achievement and purpose in the world.
Carole Taylor has been a full-time astrological consultant and teacher since 2000. A former President and Director of Studies at the Faculty of Astrological Studies, she is founder of the Centre for Astrology, Myth & Symbol and co-founder of Asteria Teaching. She is also a tutor for Astrology University and for the Centre for Relationships & Astrology. Carole has an MA in Myth, Cosmology & the Sacred from Canterbury Christ Church University, and taught for several years on the MA in Cultural Astronomy & Astrology at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.

7 January: The William Lilly Soap Opera with Chris Mitchell

When many astrologers today hear the term “horary”, they immediately think of William Lilly, the 17th-century English astrologer. Lilly was a fascinating character who practised during the Civil War, and was often caught up in the politics of his time. In this talk we will have a look at William Lilly the man, and take an astrological look at his fascinating relationship with some of the astrologers of that period.
Chris Mitchell is a certified geek, and since childhood has had a fascination with obscure languages, whether human languages (he’s learning Welsh), computer programming languages, or the mysterious symbols and language of astrology. He was therefore astonished to learn that he could actually get paid enough for writing computer programs to pay the bills, and was allowed to do a PhD in medieval astrology which opened doors allowing him the right to wander through hidden basements of ancient buildings and magical libraries poring over arcane medieval manuscripts written on parchment. He is on the board of the Astrological Association and is their local groups coordinator, and he is the author of “England’s First Astrology Book”.

3 December: Under the Gaze of the Gorgon: Astrology’s Stony Lens on 2026 with Alex Trenoweth

As several heavyweight outer planets step across the earliest degrees of new signs, 2026 arrives under one of the most striking astrological shifts in years. Uranus edges past Algol, Pluto presses deeper into Aquarius, Neptune steams into Aries, and Saturn brings its weight to the same fiery territory. Through this unblinking, mythic lens, Alex Trenoweth explores how these sky movements echo through education, AI, heavyweight sports, and the biographical films shaping the cultural mood. When we face the Gorgon, we either freeze in fear — or become the reflection that transforms it.
Alex Trenoweth is an international speaker, award-winning astrologer, and practicing school teacher whose work bridges astrology with real-world education. She is the author of several books, including a widely praised study of biographical cinema, and the creator and host of the Astrology in Real Life podcast. 15 October: Finding Purpose in Our Challenging Aspects with Mandi Lockley

We are taught that the aspects in our birth chart which reflect where we feel blocked, stressed, constricted and challenged, are here to help us to learn and grow. Even if we accept this as truth, we are sometimes at a loss as to how to help ourselves (and clients) to work with these aspects constructively. In this talk, we will discuss how consciously working to raise our vibration from fear, guilt and shame into the higher vibrations of courage, willingness, acceptance and even love, can help us to facilitate that growth and find purpose.
Mandi Lockley has studied and practised astrology for more than 20 years with a focus on psychological and spiritual astrology and holds the London School of Astrology Diploma. As well as offering consultations to clients, Mandi is an experienced speaker, delivering talks to groups and conferences. She is also a Reiki Master and psychic medium. Her new book The On Purpose Life – Your Guide to Finding and Living Your Life Purpose was published earlier this year. Website: onpurposeastrology.
1 October: Astrological Woodcuts: Every Picture Tells a Story with Trav Travers

Woodcuts. Early printed images carved into wooden blocks, inked, then used to illustrate books, posters and manuscripts centuries before modern printing. A powerful way to communicate ideas. Archaic and mesmerising images from ages past, convey complex astrological knowledge quickly and more vividly than words can. They provide both a lasting impression and emotional stimulation. Fortunately, a vast reservoir of woodcuts survives, striking illustrations of celestial motions, astrological medicine, temperament and much more. Trav will present a selection from this rich pictorial treasury, a glimpse on how Astrology once used them to teach, inspire and preserve their art. A neglected treasure worth rediscovering.
Trav Travers has been running his traditional astrology group “The Astrological Explorers” for several years, based in Sussex, looking at Natal, Mundane, Electional and Horary astrology through the ages, based on traditional source texts. His interest in astrology originally started in childhood. A devotee and advocate of traditional astrology since 1990, Trav has studied with many well-known traditional astrologers. He holds workshops, lectures and talks and still ‘does charts’.

3 September: Astrological Games of Luck and Chance: The Astrology of Fortune with Israel Ajose

What makes certain moments more favourable than others? Why do periods of exceptional fortune seem to ebb and flow? In this presentation, we explore the astrological principles behind timing, fate, and the mysteries of luck. Drawing from both traditional and modern predictive techniques, we will identify the specific windows, typically four to five times per year, when planetary alignments suggest a heightened potential for financial or symbolic gains.
Whether it’s a competition, a random draw, or a moment that hinges on risk and timing, we’ll examine how astrology can help illuminate auspicious moments to act. We will also delve into the concept of “event charts,” treating each contest or occurrence as a space-time phenomenon with its own beginning and end. Just as a natal chart can reveal the potential for success or struggle in an individual’s life, so too can a well-timed event chart reveal the dynamics of a one-on-one match or uncertain outcome.
Join us for a cosmic exploration of fortune’s rhythms, and discover how astrology can be a powerful tool for understanding timing, risk, and reward in the unpredictable dance of chance.
Israel Ajose D.Psych.Astrol is a dedicated student and teacher of astrology, tarot, and a consultant. 16 July: Medical Conditions and the Art of Decumbiture with Wanda Sellar

‘Decumbiture’ is the name given to a chart drawn up when “sickness invades the infirm”. It is basically an event chart with certain designated rules, which are quite easy to follow, though like all astrology charts, it is up to the practitioner to put it all together. Such a chart can be drawn up in any situation where something needs to be known about a medical condition, such as the time of feeling ill, of course, or a doctor’s appointment, or a fall, or waiting for the results of a medical test. A Decumbiture chart was frequently erected by medieval and 17th century astrologers when recourse to a doctor wasn’t always possible by the infirm. The chart would suggest the type of medication – usually herbs – to be administered as well.
Wanda Sellar is President of the Astrological Lodge of London. She is also its programme organiser and co-editor of the Astrology Quarterly magazine. She edits the Astrological Association’s Astrology & Medicine Newsletter. She has taught in Europe and Japan and has several books on astrology to her credit. One is on the subject of Decumbiture, though her most recent is Chart Shapes: the Code to Interpretation. Wanda holds a Diploma from the Mayo School of Astrology and is a Qualifying Horary Practitioner. She has also trained as a counsellor and Regression Therapist.

Astrology Workshop – Saturday 14 June: The ‘Magic’ of Astrology
Morning: The Magician Journey – Follow the Stars With Pam Carruthers

In this talk Pam weaves together various connections that astrology has with magic. According to the Internet, “Astrology and magic are two concepts that have been around for thousands of years. While astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects, magic refers to the use of supernatural powers or beliefs to influence or control events.” Astrology is not considered magic. However let’s look at the definition.
“A magician, also known as a magus, magic-user, spellcaster, enchanter/enchantress, sorcerer/sorceress, warlock, witch, or wizard, is someone who uses or practises magic derived from supernatural, occult or arcane sources. Magicians enjoy a rich history in mythology, legends, fiction and folklore.” Merlin is just one example.
Astrology is steeped in mythology and is often referred to as occult. The magical journey began with the Magi, the three Wise Men who were astronomers and astrologers who followed the stars, the alignment of the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction in Pisces in 7 BC. This was a rare conjunction visible in the night sky.
Pam will show the chart for the Birth of Jesus.
The tarot is linked to astrology, magic and divination and Pam has used it for over 20 years.
She will examine the Kabbalah, the Tree of Life with its connection to the planets and its influence in the Aura-Soma Colour system. Pam will end her talk and take you on a journey with The Inner Guide Meditation by Ed Steinbrecher. This connects you with the 9th house in your birth chart, so please bring it with you.
Pam Carruthers is a qualified professional Vedic and Western astrologer. She holds the Certificate with the Faculty of Astrological Studies since 1994 in Western Astrology and the Associate of Arts in Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) in 2001. She qualified as an NLP Practitioner in 1998. She teaches and has lectured with the International Conference for the British Association of Vedic Astrology and her local astrology group since 2003. An experienced Life Coach and Trainer, Pam helps clients discover the hidden patterns that are holding them back in their lives. She works from a spiritual perspective and is a student of A Course in Miracles. A consultation with her is a life enhancing and healing experience. Based in the UK, Pam has an international clientele. She works extensively via Zoom. Contact her via her website: www.healingstars.com

21 May: A Practitioner’s Perspective on Astrological Health with Steve Judd

Having been an ‘outsider’ to most of the astrological community for 40+ years, Steve has learnt his own techniques as opposed to reading books or being taught by others. In this time, he’s done over 30,000 readings, many brief and some very long. He has developed his own forms of astrological diagnosis relating to physical, emotional and mental health, and he would like to share these with you. None of this is evidential – it is all experiential, born of both diagnostic astrology and large amounts of feedback from clients.
Steve Judd is one of the ‘stars’ of the astrology world. He has 119,000 subscribers to his Steve Judd Astrology channel on YouTube. In July 2005, he was awarded the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology from the Sophia Centre at Bath Spa University, the eleventh person in the world at that time to hold this qualification. Steve’s ability to define and explain past situations from an impersonal and objective perspective gives him the potential to expand on current situations and then explore and project into possible options for the future. 7 May: The Astronomical Ceilings of Dendera & Temple Alignments of Ancient Egypt with John Wadsworth

The astronomical ceilings that decorate the Temple of Hathor in Dendera, Egypt, offer us a source of rich astronomical information that not only tells us much about the way the Ancient Egyptians engaged with the night sky, but which also provides a lot of historical, religious and mythological context for the development of astrology.
In this richly illustrated talk, John will explore in detail both the circular Zodiac of Dendera (the original of which is now housed in the Louvre in Paris), and the spectacular Pronaos astronomical ceiling that adorns the Hypostyle Hall of the temple. John will also explore the more ancient context for these late kingdom designed star maps, with reference to the 18th dynasty tomb of Senenmut which depicts the earliest known star map of the ancient world. And, as part of a broader discussion, John will also refer to the specific alignments of certain Egyptian temples to the heliacal rising and culmination of particular stars, which demonstrates a sophisticated ancient understanding of the Precessional Cycle.
John Wadsworth has been practising as an astrologer since the early 1990s and has been running the (APAI accredited) Kairos School of Astrology since 2010. He is the author of the book Your Zodiac Soul, and is the founder of The Alchemical Journey, a zodiac mystery school based in Glastonbury. John is also an experienced tour guide of sacred sites: he regularly leads pilgrimages in the Glastonbury Zodiac and, inspired by his long-term passion for all things Egyptian, he has recently begun leading tours of Ancient Egypt, focussing on its ancient star-lore.

16 April: The Great Escape: Looking at Everyday Addictions Using the Horoscope with Faye Blake

We all have our bad habits. Do you ever see yourself…needing a couple of drinks to feel more at ease in a social situation? Looking constantly at your phone? Eating more chocolate than feels good? It is only human to try to avoid what we see as the more painful or negative aspects of ourselves or of life. However, when this avoidance becomes habitual and especially when we find we can’t do without alcohol, sugar or our phone to feel better, then we begin to feel guilty and trapped and our feeling of self-esteem decreases further.
Faye’s belief is that addictive tendencies are covering up genuine needs and longings. By discovering the needs behind the addiction and accepting them, we can regain our self-respect and a sense of authenticity. Faye will look at case studies and if time permits discuss your charts – so bring your Neptune and discover if there is a talent hidden in an addiction!
Faye Blake was born in New Zealand and moved to Europe in 1984. Her study of astrology began in the 1970s and after many other astrological studies, she gained a Master of Arts in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology in the UK in 2004. She currently lives and works in Amsterdam as an astrologer, therapist, teacher and writer. www.fayeblake.nl and www.juxtaposition.nl. Branding using astrology is done through www.strutyourstuff.nl. Her book, Vocational Astrology: Finding the Right Career Direction, arose from her experience of teaching astrologers to work with all forms of career related questions.

19 March: Splendid Isolation: Unaspected Planets with Carole Taylor

By definition, unaspected planets are not connected by aspect to other planets in the chart. Unmodified therefore by other psychological drives, they exist within their own mythical space, strong and pure in their expression and powerful as a driving force within the person’s life and character, yet often operating under the radar of conscious awareness. An unaspected planet tends towards extremes, sometimes feeling overwhelming in its presence and intensity, at other times seeming to disappear through denial, repression or absence of connection. This talk will explore the challenges and potentials offered by unaspected planets, including the slow process of integration brought about by transits and progressions.
Carole Taylor FFAstrolS is co-director of The Centre for Astrology, Myth & Symbol and of Asteria Teaching. She is a former President and Director of Studies at the Faculty of Astrological Studies where she taught for 23 years and currently teaches for Astrology University and for Relationships & Astrology. Carole holds the Practitioner’s Certificate in Horary from the School of Traditional Astrology, as well as an MA in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred, and was a tutor for several years on the Sophia MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.
5 March: The Magic of Signification with Richard Swatton

Signification is a concept of such vital importance in astrology it is strange that little has been written about it. This talk seeks to correct this omission. Astrological Signification not only leads to the ability of the astrologer to see particular details of a person’s life from a birth chart, it also fortifies his confidence in foreseeing the future with accuracy. This talk, sometimes humorously, explores this most important concept of signification as well as providing ideas for cultivating it in practice. Using event-type, horary and birth charts we see signification come to life in clear and conclusive ways.
Richard Swatton’s astrology education began in 1976 when he learned traditional, horary, and Theosophical approaches to the subject. Later, he studied the work and system of Noel Tyl. Between 1985-88 Richard undertook the three-year diploma at the Centre for Psychological Astrology in London studying under Jungian Analyst and astrologers Dr. Liz Greene and Humanistic therapist Howard Sasportas. In 1992, Richard decided to train as a psychotherapist, moving his career path from music towards therapy and astrology. After already engaging various forms of psychotherapy from 1982 onward, it was during 1988-2002 he undertook a 14-year Jungian analysis as well as learning and practising various forms of mediation and spirituality.
As a therapist Richard has worked at St Thomas’s Hospital, Islington MIND the mental health charity, the Inner Way Consultancy, his own clinic – The City Psychotherapy Service – and the South Gloucestershire Council therapy services department. He is now in private practice in Bristol, online and face-to-face.
The Horary Process – a book about the practice of astrological divination – is due in late 2025 in collaboration with Frank Clifford. Hobbies; mythology; chess, and poker.
Astrology Workshop – Saturday 22 February: The Liz Greene Workshop: Saturn and Chiron
Morning: Saturn – Guardian of the Threshold! With Lindsay Gladstone
This workshop has been inspired by Liz Greene’s brilliant book Saturn – A New Look at an Old Devil. During its 29.5-year cycle Saturn acts as our mentor as we journey towards adulthood, maturity and beyond. In her book Liz Greene explains that through psychological and emotional experiences, particularly related to authority, duty, relationship and responsibility, Saturn’s function is to build a solid framework from which the psyche can operate effectively in its authentic wholeness.
Not an easy task! Often evoking within us feelings of fear, depression, and inadequacy. However, through perseverance, and self-recognition, Saturn can help us gain mastery over any perceived sense of non-achievement.
In the zodiac wheel Saturn rules Capricorn, the Cardinal, Earth sign, and is the traditional ruler of Aquarius, the Fixed, Air sign. In this workshop, supported by a visualisation of Saturn and through interpreting the placement of Saturn in the natal chart and reviewing the house it is currently transiting, we will attempt to identify the areas of life that pose a challenge for us.
Lindsay Gladstone is an astrological consultant and workshop leader. She has a Diploma of the Faculty of Astrological Studies (DFAstrolS), as well as an M.A. in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred. For a number of years she was a tutor for the Faculty of Astrological Studies, as well as Registrar for the Faculty’s prestigious Summer School. Her journey has evolved into Axis Mundi Astrology, giving client consultations, curating in-person workshops, as well as lecturing in the UK and abroad. Website: https://www.axismundiastrology.co.uk.
Afternoon: Chiron: Projection, Shadows and Wounds With Ana Isabel
To what extent are we truly aware of all our emotional, psychological or psychological wounds? What happens when they are left to fester in the dark cupboards of the unconscious? In this workshop, we will be looking at the ways in which hidden wounds can lead us to be defensive, overprotective, and hurtful to others, by examining Chiron in the birth chart. We may not always be able to cure a wound, but there is a process called ‘healing’.
Ana Isabel writes of her life and work: “When I left teaching and broadcasting, I decided to work as an astrologer. I began to give consultations, but I also began to teach astrology. I love watching my students as their interest grows in this wonderful subject. I am always delighted when they use their knowledge, and it helps them better understand themselves and others.
“Besides teaching astrology, I also write about it and have appeared on many radio stations including the BBC to talk about astrology and take calls from listeners. More recently I had my own radio show, Lightways on My Spirit Radio.
“Further training in Analytical Hypnotherapy and Past-Life Regression has led to working with clients to help them better understand their life’s purpose. Life is most joyful when it has meaning. To that end, I continue to work with my clients and students, helping them to fulfil their soul’s purpose.”

19 February: Astro-Genealogy: Weaving Our Future from Threads of the Past with Jayne Logan

Weaving is a past-time handed down through generations of elders…family and ancestors. As a spiritual practice, it concentrates and stills the mind so we can hear the voices of our ancestors. Family history is more than genealogy, a collection of names and dates. It is a rich tapestry woven with stories, traditions, and a unique lineage that contributes to who we are. But how do we unravel the threads that influence our lives? Astro-genealogy enables us to reach back in time, where the thread(s) began, to help resolve the stray fibres and rework the yarn to reconnect us with our Soul’s purpose.
Jayne Logan is a passionate ‘Astro-Genealogist’ and founder of Astro Book Club. After experiencing the healing potential of astrology to give context to some of life’s most difficult moments, Jayne undertook the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology and now practices a unique and potent blend of genealogy and evolutionary astrology. From the edge of the Canadian wilderness, Jayne works with clients around the world, guiding them to reconnect with Soul purpose through the lens of family and ancestral dynamics. Currently based in Canada, Jayne divides her time between North America and the UK, serving clients around the world.

4 December: How to be a Super-Sensor Through the Zodiac: Humanity is Developing a Soul/Spirit Awareness with Patricia Godden

As humanity is evolving it is becoming more aware of subtle energies. These are means of sensing what is happening to other people and in events around the world. Such enhanced awareness is also reflected in how higher vibrations of the signs of the zodiac are gradually manifesting. The draconic and heliocentric zodiacs may be used to understand finer facets of the human being: the soul and spirit.
Patricia Godden was a scientist in academia and then industry. A developing interest in spirituality led her to study astrology with the White Eagle School of Astrology. She now teaches, gives talks and is a consultant astrologer. Patricia has written three books: Housing Your Planets, Astrology, Crystal’s and Spirituality and Seeking the Soul. Each book gives spiritual insights into facets of astrology.
20 November: Black Moon Lilith – A Conduit to The Preternatural with Lianne McCafferty

Lilith represents all that is primal within us, a force that refuses to submit. It can manifest as a rebellious, untameable energy – therefore often demonised or repressed by those who fear it. But, as a non-physical point situated between the Moon and Earth, what if this innate force is also a metaphysical doorway, a channel to a higher plane of consciousness? Another dimension or vibrational energy even…so in this talk we will explore this possibility through Lilith’s mythology and various natal examples of those who demonstrate heightened intuitive and psychic abilities.
Lianne McCafferty holds the Mayo Diploma (with Distinction) in both Natal & Mundane Astrology as well as being a member of the APAI. She is also a tutor for the Mayo. Based in the UK (North-East) she consults internationally with a busy and varied client base, but she takes a particular interest in how astrology can be utilised in sport to help enhance performance. She is herself a former high-level equestrian. Along with a busy family life she is an accomplished musician and enjoys a more recent sporting passion, martial arts, in which she recently gained Shodan 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. Lianne is now training towards 2nd Dan in late 2024 and has started learning Japanese.
6 November: Why Fixed Stars Are Essential. And What They Tell Us Of The Tragic Madelaine McCann Case. Plus, the US Election with Oscar Hofman

The Fixed Stars are not just an interesting add-on, they are part of the very basic structure of astrology. Apart from the planets, the signs and the houses, you need the stars to get the message the chart is trying to convey to you. If you leave them out you will miss far too much. This is also true with natal charts, forecasts, progressions, returns, profections and firdaria. In this talk the Madeleine McCann story is examined. (Also we will look at my prediction for the US presidential election (on 5 November!) which I made publicly in August. Was I right?
Oscar Hofman is a traditional astrologer from The Netherlands. His book, Fixed Stars in the Chart: Constellations, Lunar Mansions and Mythology and The Lunar Mansions Guide: Rediscovering the Western Lunar Zodiac are published by The Wessex Astrologer. 17 July: Tales of Lost Astrologers – Including the One Who Ran a Brothel and the One Ran Away to Join a Fair with Kim Farnell

Though they were famous in their day, many of the astrologers of the last century or so have already faded from history. But they weren’t all studious and strait-laced middle-aged white men as it would be so easy to believe. They were much more interesting and diverse than that. These are the stories of some of their lives and work. Tales include those of the astrologer who wrote the first British newspaper column in 1911, the astrologer who ran a brothel, the astrologer who ran away to join the fair, and the astrologers who didn’t really exist.
Kim Farnell is currently completing a PhD on the history of the horoscope column in women’s magazines. For twelve years, she was President of the Astrological Lodge of London. She’s written a number of books including biographies of Alan and Bessie Leo, a biography of Cheiro, and a history of Sun sign astrology.
3 July: How to Shape up Your Astrology? Chart Shapes: the Path to Analysis with Wanda Sellar

Understanding chart shapes – created by the arrangement of planets in the horoscope – can be a helpful route to interpretation, and certainly gives a starting point. Each shape has its own theme, modified by the core planet/s. Most charts fit into the seven idealised patterns, and their variations, but not all, though that’s helpful, too. Sometimes it’s the planet that stands outside the idealised shape that reveals the core of the personality.
Wanda Sellar holds a diploma in astrology with the Mayo School of Astrology and is a Qualifying Horary Practitioner. She also has a long-standing interest in the spiritual side of astrology and is a devotee of the Alice Bailey books. She has worked as a holistic therapist and counselling astrologer, and now mainly, though not exclusively, works as a writer and speaker. She has four books to her name in astrology, and two in aromatherapy. She has for a number of years edited the Astrological Association’s Astrology & Medicine Newsletter, and now co-edits the Astrology Lodge of London’s (A.L.L.) magazine, Astrology Quarterly She continues to put the Lodge’s programme together, and most of its workshops. Last year she was inducted, for the second time, as the president of the A.L.L.
19 June: Solar Returns: A Vivid Guide to the Year Ahead with Kim Farley

The talk will mix theory and examples and offer my take on how best to approach this particular area of forecasting. I’m not a predictive astrologer, but in client work, I always use the Solar Return as a vivid guide to the possibilities of the year in question. Alongside transits, it’s another framework which offers itself openly to potential. What I like about Solar Returns as a forecasting aid is that we have an entire chart to explore, with its abundant encouragement, array of promise and prompts to the imagination.
Kim Farley discovered astrology at the end of the 1980s and since then it has enhanced her life in countless ways. She has tutored generations of students over more than thirty years in London classes and internationally. A contributor to the volumes Journey Through Astrology and The Book of Music Horoscopes, she’s also the author of the booklet Astro Mind Maps and has been published in The Mountain Astrologer and The Astrological Journal. Describing her own approach to the art as the practice of applied imagination, she consults from home as well as worldwide online, and continues to teach with her independent school Asteria as well as for the LSA and Astrology University. Kim lives in central London with her beloved and is also a vegan cook, poet and funeral celebrant.
Astrology Workshop – Saturday 15 June: “Our Inner Journey – Therapies and the Heavens”

Part One: Highly Talented People and the Archetype of the Puer and Puella Aeternus with Rebekah Hirsch
In this special workshop (do bring your horoscope), we will be exploring the archetype of the Puer Aeternus, the eternal youth and the Puella, the eternal maiden. This archetype describes a Peter Pan type of character – magical and charismatic but unable to cross the threshold into maturity and take on adult responsibilities. People who are strongly influenced by the Puer and the Puella are often highly talented. However, this archetype connects to our growing understanding of ADHD, the Puer struggles to meet the demands of the physical world and they often experience the disappointment of being unable to manifest their gifts. We’ll be exploring some of the mythology associated with the Puer and its encounter with the archetypes of the Senex and the Gorgon. And we’ll look at how the Puer and Puella appear in the horoscope through the placements of Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter and the signs they rule.

Part Two: Sins Of The Forefathers with Ana Isabel
To what extent is an individual’s karma shaped by the experience of previous generations? Do we choose families according to the ancestral karma being played out? How can this help the Soul’s evolution? In this workshop, Ana Isabel draws on her experience as an astrologer and Past-Life Regressionist to look at how Chiron provides important information about the nature of a Soul’s karmic wounds as inherited from the chosen family of incarnation.
5 June: Mercury as Psychopomp: Our Guide to the Afterlife? with Alison Boulton

The mythical role of Hermes/Mercury as psychopomp is recorded in The Odyssey and it continues to pervade our consciousness today. Through investigation of the death charts of famous people in relation to their natal charts, this talk explores the nature and role of ‘the guide of souls’ asking whether Mercury does indeed fill this role and whether this can be evidenced through astrology. The tentative conclusion is ‘yes’. In the death chart, Mercury is frequently active by transit or progression. The extraordinary privilege of a conversation with an actual psychopomp offers insights into how this might translate into some kind of reality.
Alison Boulton MA, D.F.Astrol.S. is a writer, teacher and professional astrologer who has contributed articles to The Astrological Journal. She has a BA Hons in Anthropology and an MA in Creative Writing. In the 1980s, after an intense consultation with Liz Greene, she began studying with the Faculty of Astrological Studies, gaining the Foundation certificate in 1988. Liz Greene’s work led her to Jung and to psychological astrology which she has explored extensively. In 2021, she returned to the Faculty and gained her Diploma, just three Jupiter cycles after passing the Foundation. Alison is based in the southern French countryside beneath a canopy of stars where she teaches astrology and has a busy consultancy practice. 15 May: The Divinatory Art of Horary Astrology with Wade Caves

Horary astrology is a remarkably decisive technique that allows both astrologer and client to cut to the chase of a seemingly unsolvable dilemma. Through chart delineation, the client’s range of options are assessed and thoroughly explored. In this workshop we will study the guiding principles of horary technique, using both historical and modern examples. We will explore charts related to the most common client concern, with a mind to what is generalisable across fields of questioning. Suitable for all levels, regardless of prior horary experience.
Wade Caves, based in Brooklyn, NY, is an astrological consultant and educator specialising in problem-solving applications of astrology. He teaches specialist astrological subjects and astronomy at the School of Traditional Astrology, and publishes his work on world affairs through Skyscript’s In Mundo publishing desk. He is the host of the World Astrology Summit, a conference dedicated to the advancement of astrology for global problem-solving. Website: wadecaves.com • skyscript.co.uk/inmundo.
1 May: The Joy of Sects – Day and Night Charts with Chris Mitchell

Medieval astrology placed a lot of emphasis on working out which planets were working hard for you, using techniques that have largely been lost in modern astrology. One key one is ‘sect’, which uses day and night to determine your ‘leading light’, and how that affects your chart. This talk will explore the interplay between light and dark and show you how to use a number of fascinating techniques in your own astrological work.
Chris Mitchell is a certified geek, and since childhood has had a fascination with obscure languages, whether human languages (he’s learning Welsh), computer programming languages, or the mysterious symbols and language of astrology. He was therefore astonished to learn that he could actually get paid enough for writing computer programs to pay the bills and was allowed to do a PhD in medieval astrology which opened doors allowing him the right to wander, Harry Potter-style, through hidden basements of ancient buildings and magical libraries poring over arcane medieval manuscripts written on parchment.
17 April: Siblings – love them or hate them – they matter! with Faye Blake

The relationships formed with siblings can indicate how we relate to members of our own peer group. Much attention has been given to parent-child contacts, but sibling dynamics are equally important. Studying these factors can be valuable in improving both relationships with siblings and with our peers and intimate partners. Although it is often said that ‘we marry our mother/father’, it may perhaps be more accurate in some cases to say that ‘we marry our brother/sister’. We will use Inner Child techniques to highlight patterns so bring your horoscopes with Koch Houses so we can discuss your own examples. No brothers and sisters? This workshop is still relevant!
Faye Blake is New Zealand-born, offering an innovative mix of services: she’s a counselling astrologer and therapist, and she’s also a business consultant who offers original ways to use astrology in the working environment. A hands-on approach to vocational astrology has made Faye a sought-after speaker at schools and conferences internationally. Her book Vocational Astrology forms the basis of her tailor-made Vocational Apprenticeship program.
Apart from her vocational work, Faye is a passionate advocate of the Huber Life Clock method and for using Ceres, who is now a dwarf planet. She is founder of the Amsterdam School of Astrology in her adopted home of The Netherlands. Faye holds an M.A. in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. Her free monthly blog covers a wide range of topics.

20 March: Astrology, Divination and Symbol: the Connection between Revealed and Concealed Worlds with Carole Taylor

In his book The Moment of Astrology, Geoffrey Cornelius asserts that all astrology involving judgement of birth charts is a form of divination, a view also reflected in the work of other influential astrologers. This has profound implications for any kind of chart work, ones which I think astrologers often struggle to work with in practice.
This talk explores the concept of divination within our ordinary practice of astrology, with the aim of showing how we might acknowledge the potency of the divinatory mindset without losing our fundamental view of the chart as an objective map of character. We will look at how divinatory modes of thinking have influenced astrology over the centuries. We will also think about the nature of symbols as connection between revealed and concealed worlds, inviting encounter with the symbol’s archetypal presence, where the astrologer is themselves part of the symbol’s manifestation. Throughout the talk, I will ground the ideas in practical examples, drawn from my own client practice and personal experience.
Carole Taylor is a full-time astrological consultant and educator, informed by a deep love of mythology, symbolism and the power of astrology to speak to the felt depths of human experience. She is a former President and Director of Studies at the Faculty of Astrological Studies, founder of its online classes programme and an extensive contributor to its course material. She is co-director of Asteria Teaching and of the Centre for Astrology, Myth and Symbol. She holds an MA in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred, and is a tutor on the Sophia MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.
Carole is the author of Astrology: Using the Wisdom of the Stars in Your Everyday Life and co-author of Journey Through Astrology.
6 March: The Karmic Ghosts of your Natal Chart with Giorgia Pecora

The Fourth, Eighth, and Twelfth houses compel us to confront the debts, shadows of former incarnations, our connection with our lineage, and the karmic stories associated with our genealogical tree. How can we navigate them in a conscious way? We will explore specific astrological signatures and strategies to empower our clients karmically.
Giorgia Pecora is a certified psychological astroconsultant and teacher, specializing in karmic dynamics, shadow work, relationship astrology, and astro genealogy. Her astrological approach is influenced by studies in theosophy, somatic work, shamanic practices, and sexological bodywork. 21 February: Saturn and Neptune in Pisces: Wading Through Muddy Waters…to Find Mystery and Romance with Wendy Stacey

With Saturn and Neptune in Pisces muddying the waters, it is often difficult to see how deep and unsettling things may be… however, whilst these transits trigger planets in mutable signs – we can alter our perception and sink ourselves into mystery and vision, beauty, and romance. Saturn is the co-ruler of Aquarius and its position feeds into how Pluto’s transition from Capricorn to Aquarius may play out. This talk will explore the positive ways one can experience these transits and what we might expect. A reminder of Muddy Waters quote, ‘The blues had a baby and they called it rock and roll’.
Wendy Stacey (BA, MA, Dip LSA) is the principal of the international Mayo School of Astrology (since 2007) and Chair of the Astrological Association (since 2002). Astrology Workshop – Saturday 17 February: In person Astrology Day – the Astrology of Dreamwork with Alex Trenoweth
Brighton Astrology Circle is pleased to welcome First Nation culture for a very special full day workshop on Dreamwork.
Although we know her better as an astrologer, teacher and author, our frequent guest speaker Alex Trenoweth is a registered band member of the Saugeen reservation (the Ojibway tribe) in Ontario Canada and has grown up understanding the value of dreams. After working with South African Sangoma Rod Suskin, Alex learned how astrology can help reveal the hidden meaning of our unconscious thoughts.
For her morning lecture, she will reach into her files to present case studies of dreams from (consenting) clients and will invite the BAC audience to share their dreams to demonstrate the power of the unconscious as well as the peace of mind that comes from understanding its messages.
In the afternoon, Alex will provide us the materials and invite us to learn how to make dreamcatchers. She will also share Ojibway stories and history. Before the workshop, Alex will post you her dreamkit which will help make your dreams more memorable so you can share them with our group.
Alex Trenoweth, MA (CAA), DFAstrolS, is an astrological researcher, author and professional school teacher in London, UK. In 2015, she was awarded ‘International Astrologer of the Year’ by the Krishnamurti Institute of Astrology (KIA) for her ground-breaking and innovative research on ‘astrology and education’ based on her book Growing Pains: Astrology in Adolescence (The Wessex Astrologer). Since then, she has spoken at astrology conferences around the world and contributed to major astrological magazines and publications. She has also authored ‘The Adolescent Astrology Report’ which was created to help parents and teachers understand the children they care for. Her most recent book Mirror Mirror: The Astrology of Famous People and the Actors Who Portrayed Them contains a foreword by the legendary astrologer Julia Parker. Alex is Director of Education for Kepler College and her website is: alextrenoweth.co.uk.
7 February: The Astrology of the Courtesan in History – neither Prostitute nor Mistress. Yet What? with Sue Brayne

The courtesan is often wrongly dismissed as either prostitute or mistress. She was (and possibly still is) neither. In history she occupied an ambivalent role, usually a highly independent woman who attached herself to men of power, monarchs or plutocrats. She was a feminist forerunner – and I have always been fascinated by courtesans. These extraordinary self-made earthly goddesses – often born in the gutter – possessed such magnetism, beauty, wit, and intelligence that male aristocracy fell at their feet and showered them with fabulous gifts. How did they do it? We will compare the astrological charts of famous courtesans to explore whether they possess similar themes and aspects and look at how the asteroids Casanova (the great seducer) and Phryne (ancient Greek courtesan) might play their part. So, get ready to explore if you, too, have what it takes to set hearts ablaze with passion and yearning…
Sue Brayne, MA, D.F.Astrol.S. Sue is a writer and astrological journalist and has an MA in Religious Studies and a second MA in Creative Writing. She is also a TEDx speaker and host of the ‘Embracing Your Mortality’ podcast. Sue’s passion for astrology began 30 years ago – she recently gained her Diploma with the Faculty of Astrological Studies – and her interviews with master astrologers appear regularly in The Astrological Journal. 17 January: The Jupiter-Uranus Conjunction of 20 April 2024 – What Can Boomsters (or Gloomsters) Expect? with Anne Whitaker
On 20 April 2024 the Jupiter-Uranus exact conjunction occurs in Taurus – and this is not just an aspect for one day. Its ‘influence’ occupies a considerable timeline from build-up to aftermath, and here I examine what the past tells us of its historical correlations when these two powerhouse celestials join.
Jupiter meets Uranus every 14 years. It is described in Baigent, Campion and Harvey’s Mundane Astrology as connected to the “growth and awakening of human consciousness”. My unique historical research offers a guide as to what we can expect from the latest conjunction, based on work published in my e-book Jupiter Meets Uranus.
Anne Whitaker is a widely published astrologer with a regular column in The Astrological Journal. She also wrote a column for the old DELL HOROSCOPE magazine, and her work appears regularly on Astrodienst (astro.com) and in The Mountain Astrologer. Her latest book, Postcards to the Future – a collection of her essays – was highly praised. Her e-book Jupiter Meets Uranus has been rereleased with new material: further details on the e-book are at two websites: anne-whitaker.com/books-2/ and jupitermeetsuranus.wordpress.com.
In 2001 she co-founded the Scotland-based Aquarius Rising ‘tribe’ or group in Glasgow. And her blog ‘Writing from the Twelfth House’ (anne-whitaker.com) is hugely popular, showcasing her interests in planetary cycles (transits and progressions) and her delight in debates with fellow astrologers.

Rod Chang has studied astrology for over twenty years, both through self-study and the Faculty of Astrological Studies. His favourite techniques are mundane astrology and fixed stars, and he brings a humanistic approach to his work. He is the co-founder of the Academy of Astrology. 6 December: Astrological House Division and the Symbolism of the Celestial Circles with Rhys Chatham

Rhys Chatham explains how the major house division systems are calculated in a way that does not require any math. Rather than advocate the use of one house system over another, we will simply compare them and look at the various celestial circles they are based on, reflecting upon the symbolic implications of each of them and how they might impact on chart interpretation. We’ll discuss what distinguishes one house system from another, allowing you to make informed choices on which ones to use, for what, and when. In this talk we will cover the ecliptic-based (whole sign, equal and Porphyry), space-based (Meridian, Regiomontanus, Campanus), and time-based houses (Alcabitius, Koch and Placidus).
Rhys Chatham – STA DipH, AFAN/OPA, APAI – is a professional astrologer based in Paris, France with clients from all over the world. He studied 20th century astrology with Charles and Vivian Jayne in the late sixties and seventies, and more recently has been immersed in the practice of traditional astrology, having studied Hellenistic astrology with Chris Brennan, Renaissance astrology and magic with Christopher Warnock, primary directions with Dr. Martin Gansten, and holds the advanced horary diploma from the School of Traditional Astrology (Deborah Houlding, Lee Lehman, Wade Caves). Rhys is also a hermetic kabbalist and has been a member of various lodges in the U.K. since the year 2000.
15 November: The Draconics of a Nightmare Relationship: Oscar Wilde and Lord Alfred Douglas. Disaster or Opportunity? with Victor Olliver

It is customary to dismiss partnerships of love that have not worked out as ‘a big mistake’ or ‘an error of judgement’. But what does draconic astrology have to say? Using the example of Wilde and his boyfriend Douglas (aka ‘Bosie’), Victor analyses their ‘doomed’ bond through their draconic soul purpose charts and discovers valuable life lessons for both. A knowledge of draconic astrology is not essential to follow the talk. All will be explained.
Victor Olliver has been editor of the Astrological Association’s membership magazine, The Astrological Journal, for nearly eight years. He also writes the stars column for The Lady magazine. He has a distinction diploma in mundane and natal astrology from the Mayo School of Astrology. Before becoming a full-time astrologer, he was an award-winning feature writer and editor and his many interviews and features appeared in such publications as Marie Claire, Woman’s Journal, The Sunday Times Magazine and The Times. 1 November: What Happens When There is the Separation of Self from the Divine? with Smiljana Gavrančić

All the miasms (possible illness) are the product of the separation of Self from the Divine. In the centre of this Vortex is syphilitic miasm. How we can ‘mix’ astrology and homeopathy? The base of astrology is mythology. If you know to recognize myths in someone’s chart, you are able to discover which miasms you are living. Smiljana is going to speak on so called Kingdom Family Constellations-Cetus, Andromeda, Cassiopea, Cepheus, Perseus, Pegasus and how to cut off the energetic cord which trap you in family with the help of homeopathy remedies.
18 October: The Water Houses and the Soul of the Family with Carole Taylor

The 4th, 8th and 12th houses are said to have an affinity with the water signs. Water can be taken as a symbol of the unconscious, an element outside of time where we encounter soul and the deep mysteries of psychic life. These houses also connect us to our family, the 4th as the alembic of home and the lineage of our family tree, the 8th as hidden elements below the surface of family life, and the 12th as unresolved disturbances inherited from the past. The water houses say a great deal about these emotional and psychological legacies as elements of the soul of the family, the arc of something working itself out through successive generations.
We will explore the idea of the family soul through the lens of the water houses, thinking about how the ancestors create the context of our own lives and how our life contributes to the ongoing story of the family to which we belong.
Carole Taylor is a full-time astrological consultant and educator, informed by a deep love of mythology, symbolism and the power of astrology to speak to the felt depths of human experience. Part Two: Fight or Flight: Peace at any Price, or Simply Seeing Red? with Lindsay Gladstone

Strength of character is initially forged within the early learning constellation of family and siblings.
Taking into adulthood negotiating strategies learned in kindergarten how do we face up to adversity and get what we want out of life? Is it through diplomacy and tact? Or do we wantonly grab our heart’s desire without consideration of other people’s feelings?
In this afternoon session, through the astrological expression of Venus and Mars in the birth chart, we will review our sense of values and self-worth and how these principles colour our relationship towards family, siblings and the world around us.
Lindsay Gladstone is an astrological consultant. Her passionate exploration of the soul’s connection with the cosmos culminated in the Diploma of the Faculty of Astrological Studies (DFAstrolS), as well as an M.A. in Myth, Cosmology, and the Sacred from Canterbury Christ Church University.

4 October: Chiron In Synastry- Healer/Wounder with Ana Isabel

Relationships act as mirrors showing us who we are through the way we transfer our view of ourselves onto others and by projecting our desires and expectations onto them. They can be a Hall of Mirrors in which we see distorted images of ourselves and others. So, what can Chiron in Synastry show us about the role we play by touching a beloved’s wounds to help bring healing, or by wounding and bringing old pain to the surface? In this talk we will look how Chiron can bring both great pain and healing in relationships.

20 September: Astrological Nutrition: Vitamins, Minerals, Metals, and the Planets with Judith Hill

Ancient astrologer-physicians linked specific metals to “their” planet. Modern astrologer Elbert Benjamine assigned vitamins and minerals to planets, an approach furthered by astrologer and bio-chemical researcher Robert Carl Jansky, and Eileen Nauman, DHM. Others have assigned homeopathic cell salts to the twelve zodiac signs. Judith demonstrates how to utilize the birth chart, plus transits, for evaluating potential innate and current nutritional deficiencies, excesses and imbalances. She will also introduce her own fascinating method for defining potential nutritional deficiencies typical of the twelve Ascendant signs.
Judith Hill is an award winning author of thirteen books including the classics: Medical Astrology: A Guide to Planetary Pathology; The Astrological Body Types, and Vocational Astrology (winner of an A.F.A., Inc. “Best Book Award”, 1999.), and Medical Astrology for Health Practitioners. Hill founded The Academy for Astrological Medicine IN 2021, previously producing the Renaissance Medicine Conferences, and created multiple online courses including Medical Astrology 101. Hill was possibly the first to introduce Western Medical Astrology to Szechuan, China. Hill is a Chartered Herbalist with Dominion Herbal College, and a faculty member for The Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism; and Kepler College. She also pioneered medical studies of the Lunar Nodes, and the medical impact of eclipses, initiating the first nodal polarity conscious eclipse calendar.
An internationally recognized researcher, Hill internationally published significant statistical research on astro-genetics and astro-seismology, and has served as the Educational Director for the San Francisco NCGR; and as the private assistant to the great physicist Arthur M. Young at the Institute for the Study of Consciousness. Hill successfully matched five biographies to five natal charts in an NCGR sponsored skeptic’s challenge in 1989.. She is one of the longest practicing full time astrological consultants in America.

Thousands of people go missing every year in the UK and worldwide. Usually for different reasons. Thousands are never found. 21 June: Where can I be at home?! with Fernanda Paiva

According to Geoff Mulgan ‘Where can I be at home?’ was a question that Albert Camus called once ‘the most painful of our time’ and, if home is where the heart is and the IC is one of the astrological symbols reflecting home, then the subject is worth being explored further. In this talk we will take a closer look at different notions of home and what kinds of deeper insight they can offer to the astrological interpretation of the IC, as well as what the star signs might be reflecting about our deeper selves in this most hidden part of the horoscope.
Fernanda Paiva is a teacher and practicing astrologer with a BA. in History and she acquired her astrology certificate with distinction at the London School of Astrology. She has been published by Flare UK, IAM Infinity magazine, the AA Journal and at the astrodienst website, and she is currently working on her thesis for the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales. Astrology Workshop – Saturday 25 March: SkyPortal – The Big Transits of 2023
Part One: Pluto in Aquarius: from Breakdown to Breakthrough With Phoebe Wyss
Historically the Pluto in Aquarius times have been periods of tumult and radical change, involving the collapse of long-standing social structures and values. But they were also times when ingenious inventions and discoveries created new social forms and brought material progress. However on this occasion the transit coincides with a looming crisis that’s unprecedented in history. We must either reverse the galloping climate change our modern life style has created or face extinction. We astrologers realise that the next 20 years while Pluto is in Aquarius are crucial if we wish to turn things round and emerge reborn into a brave new world in 2043?
In this workshop we will examine the collective crisis from a personal point of view as reflected in our charts. Different experiential structures will be used to gain in a playful way a deeper understanding of the meaning the Pluto in Aquarius transit has for us as individuals. The central question we will ask is what deeply engrained patterns of thinking, feeling and acting that keep us attached to the past must now die so that new attitudes to living on this planet can be born, bringing an increase in happiness, love and togetherness into our lives and contributing to transform breakdown into breakthrough
Phoebe Wyss is a Hove astrologer with 40 years experience in giving consultations, courses and workshops and is an experienced public speaker. She also trained to be a past-life therapist back in the 1980s in Germany, and for many years combined regression work with natal astrology in her practice. She’s published an astrological board game, two books on the astrological archetypes and her latest book – Inside the Cosmic Mind: Archetypal Astrology and the New Cosmology – was published in 2014.
Part Two: Saturn Enters Pisces – When the Structure Begins to Shift and Change with Julian Venables

Saturn moves into Pisces on the 7th March 2023 and begins a three year transit of this most sensitive and fluctuating water sign of feelings. Saturn is known as a taskmaster of consolidation, of making things real, and its purpose is to embody the world of rules, boundaries and tests. What will happen when the planet of limitation enters the boundless ocean of being? A new spiritual structure for humanity?
Saturn spends approximately 3 years in each zodiac sign and makes a complete orbit around the zodiac in 29.6 years. The last time it entered Pisces was the 22nd May 1993 until the 7th April 1996 (also the 1960’s cycle of 25th March 1964 through to 3rd march 1967). Julian will review this cycle historically with regards to what we are about to experience; we will look at the Saturn transits, and play around with some empowering and creative metaphors.
Be sure to bring your chart along with you, and Julian will review your Saturn experience and provide some useful predictions for your next three years…
Julian Venables is a Faculty diploma holder and has been chair of the Brighton Astrology group since 2012. This book introduces an amazing rediscovered perception for astrologers to enjoy, bringing opportunity for instant enlightenment whilst illuminating our divine link to the Creation. His other major project in 2023 is to create a complete set of cast pewter talismans, using well-timed electional charts to birth the planetary spirits into the earthly realm.
15 March: Van Gogh with Claudia Bader

A client contacts you for an appointment: no one loves him and his career is going nowhere. His name is Vincent Van Gogh. This lecture is a psychoaesthetic deep dive into his life and psychodynamics as expressed through his chart and his artwork; particularly the troubles of excessive Jupiter energy. What do you say? How do you say it? How do you manage the session/s? What heals/helps? 1 March: You Can Do Magic: A Guide to the Timing and Making of a Talisman with Liz Hathway

One of the most fascinating areas of astrology is the ancient art of amulet and talisman making. By strengthening a weak planet, fortifying, embellishing or possibly restraining areas of the chart, it is possible to change the relationship to your horoscope in active and creative ways, without using molten metals! In this talk, I will be revisiting the above lecture first presented at the Astrological Association of Great Britain’s, Magic conference in September 2013.
Liz Hathway, Master of Arts in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology (with distinction), DFAstrolS, Qualified Horary Craftswoman (Frawley school) is a Welsh born, Dutch based astrologer, with many years experience in teaching, lecturing and writing about astrology. Taking a ‘can do’ approach to talisman making, Liz made many during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s including an altar cloth painted during the 1999 grand cross eclipse. During her Masters at the University of Wales, Liz explored magic and divination under the tutelage of Liz Greene, Dorian Greenbaum among others.
15 February: Declination – the Forgotten Key to Time, Weather and Markets with Tania Daniels

Declination is often considered a tool of modern astrology, but reading carefully through traditional text sources, we can find many hints to its use since antiquity. In the declination cycle, a planet moves from his southernmost position in relation to the equator to its northernmost position where it stands still for a while before it starts descending south, crosses the equator and finally reaches the southernmost position again. These declination periods are not all the same. The Moon reaches her so called lunistices only every 18.6 years, the other planets have different periods. In this talk we will look at these so often forgotten cycles and how to use them.
Tania Daniels holds a degree in business administration and became interested in Astrology in 1998 after having read an astrological analysis of Leonardo da Vinci’s last Supper. She finished training in psychological astrology in 2002 at the Berlin school of the German Astrology Association (DAV). In 2009 she was introduced to traditional astrology by Deborah Houlding. She holds the STA Horary Diploma (master course), has studied Robert Zoeller’s Medieval Astrology Course and gained her certificate in Hellenistic Astrology in early 2017 from Chris Brennan. Tania is deeply interested in the very foundations of astrology and fascinated by the hidden information in cosmologies and religions from all over the world, religion and Ayurveda, natural health and medical astrology, as well as in the forecasting techniques of ancient astrology. She has published more than 50 articles which have been published in German, Spanish, English, Italian and Turkish on www.astro.com, in the English Astrological Journal, the German Meridian Fachzeitschrift für Astrologie and the Italian Linguaggio Astrale, the ISAR Magazine, the Spanish Stellium magazine, the AFAN magazine, in the publication The Ascendant and in the Infinity Astrological Magazine . She is a tutor for the QHP and an international speaker. Tania is currently finishing her book on Latitude, declination, nodes and apogee: The lost secrets of our ancestors. She lives in Italy and offers horary and natal consultations in person and via zoom.
1 February: Esoteric Rulership – Who rules that sign? with Michael Bartlett

While traditional astrology teaches us the rulers of the signs as Mars rules Aries and Scorpio, Venus rules Taurus and Libra, Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, etcetera –did you know there is another octave of rulership? In esoteric or soul-centered astrology there are additional views and approaches to the Zodiac. As we become more personal to the impersonal and more impersonal to the personal, a larger perspective and plan can be glimpsed, guided and supported. Weaving the works of Alice Bailey, Madame Blavatsky and Alan Oken, metaphysical astrologer Michael Bartlett will illustrate the more elevated expressions of the planets when in and/or aspecting their esoteric kingdoms.
Michael Bartlett focuses on esoteric astrology and traditional while incorporating the depths of the outer planets. His Core Energetic training, highly intuitive nature, three decades of business experience and over two decades of astrological wisdom give him an extensively resourced toolbox. 18 January: Enlightenment Through your Rising Sign, and Using Divine Nature to Unify Traditional and Modern Psychological Astrology with Julian Venables

If you’ve been wondering what the next big thing in Astrology might be, then this talk just possibly opens the box of treasure! Julian brings a philosophical lecture to the Brighton astrology group, and points out a whole new direction for astrology to go towards in the 21st century, that can be developed by the soon-to-arrive plutonic Aquarian phase that was already started by the Jupiter and Saturn Aquarius conjunction in 2020. There is a simple method and experiment that brings instant enlightenment to astrologers and their clients, that comes about from a simple shift of perception. The astrologer at once becomes divine and begins to observe planetary creation arising from moment to moment. By experimenting with a shift from the heliocentric to the geocentric, then astrologers can perceive a unity of the above and the below, of the within and the without, simultaneously. This talk will set in motion a revolution in the world of astrology, based around our perception.
In 2003, Robert Zoller wrote “The complete study of astrology, therefore, consists of not merely digging up the writings of the ancients and assiduously studying them, but penetrating their inner meaning and rediscovering their perceptual mode. We must ultimately see the world as the ancients did if we are to understand their metaphysics”. Julian will present what he believes is the unifying bridge that will bring together the two schools of astrology: the traditional and the modern psychological.
Julian Venables is a Faculty diploma holder and has been chair of the Brighton Astrology group since 2012. Subscribe to his YouTube channel, “Julian Venables astrologer” to watch his videos, or see his website www.Londonastrologer.com for readings and to sign up for his free newsletter. In 2023, he will have his first astrology book published: The Divine Order is revolutionary and groundbreaking, bridging together traditional astrology with modern psychology. This book introduces an amazing rediscovered perception for astrologers to enjoy, bringing opportunity for instant enlightenment whilst illuminating our divine link to the Creation. His other major project in 2023 is to create a complete set of cast pewter talismans, using well-timed electional charts to birth the planetary spirits into the earthly realm. email: julestheastrologer@gmail.com
4 January: The Highs and Lows of the Life of the Astrologer, Alchemist, Mathematician & Mystic Dr John Dee (1527-1608) with Anita Chakraburtty

Did you know 007 was Dr John Dee’s secret insignia, used in his private communications with Queen Elizabeth I? He was the original James Bond! Did you know that he chose the date for Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation? Or that his navigational calculations helped with the discovery of the New World? He was also accused of using ‘enchantments’ against Queen Mary which led to him being confined. As a mystic, Dr John Dee dabbled in the art of using Spirits to divine the future with Edward Kelly. Despite his connection to two Queens and a King, Dr John Dee died in poverty. His rollercoaster life will be the focus of Anita Chakraburtty’s talk which will also include the interpretation of various key Astrology charts.
Anita Chakraburtty completed her 4 year Diploma in Medieval Astrology in 2012 via Astro Mundi, a school run by the Astrologers Joy Usher and Mari Garcia in Adelaide, Australia. Anita is also a full-time Registered Herbalist/Nutritionist with 13+ years clinical experience. She also trained with a Cherokee Chief for 7 years to become a Shamanic Healer. In her previous careers Anita worked as a Research Scientist for Astra Zeneca and as a Risk Manager in Banking in the UK & Sydney. On moving back to the UK in 2015 after 12 years in Sydney Anita has appeared on Wandsworth Radio and Riverside Radio as well as having given lectures for the Astrological Lodge of London and other UK Astrology groups.

7 December: What just happened? with Trav Travers

A useful and interesting look at events and the astrology behind them. The catastrophic, the audacious. Events that touch nations on a grand scale, the root of conspiracy theories. Suitable for all and not a Mundane book in sight. Very simple traditional rules will guide us to see what just happened, astrologically speaking. The easy rules used in this session are a useful astrological tool you will use again and again.
16 November: Houses and Rectification with Chris Mitchell

Houses had an incredible depth of meaning in traditional astrology, and we’ll look at some of these. For houses to work, you need an accurate birth time – how did they do that in an age when nobody had a wristwatch?
Chris Mitchell has a PhD from the University of Leicester on the topic of medieval astrology, is a tutor on the MA Cultural Astronomy and Astrology course at the University of Wales, and holds a diploma in Medieval Astrology from Astrologos. He has been actively involved in promoting and teaching astrology for 20 years, is on the board of the Astrological Association, and has given talks to groups and conferences in Europe and the US.
2 November: The Astrology of ‘The Crown’ with Alex Trenoweth

In recent times, we have all become riveted by The Crown Netflix series which tells the tangled tale of the current British Royal Family through an abdication crisis, divorce and infidelity, public dramas and behind-the-scenes heartache as well as several Prime Ministers. But is it all down to juicy plotlines and good acting? Alex has been studying the astrology of famous people and the actors who portray them and what she has discovered is that there are strong astrological links that tell the real story. So grab some popcorn and settle in for a very interesting screening starring Astrology and Royalty.

Astrology Workshop – Saturday 24 September: Saturn square Uranus – the Clash of the Titans
The Saturn Uranus connection – how can they work together?
In the morning workshop from 10am-12:30pm, Julian Venables will give us the meaning and interpretation of both planets, as well as how they interact in aspect to each other. With this current tense ‘square’ going on, what can we expect at the peak moment between October 1st and 12th (hint: the total peak will be October 4th and 5th, and Julian will explain why). Julian will also look at their mundane transits through history, picking out some of the major occurrences for a review. The biggest question of all is: what are these two planets doing in your chart, and reflecting in your life?
If you come along to the Cornerstone Centre in person, you’ll find out as a chart reading will be given to every attendee!
Julian Venables has started writing a new and original format of media horoscopes which he calls ‘The Weekly Almanac’, it is available to view every week on his website https://www.londonastrologer.com/blog-post/ where you can also sign up for a free newsletter. Julian is currently researching and writing his first astrology book, which doesn’t promise enlightenment through astrology, but guarantees a new perspective and the opportunity for eternal happiness through knowing your planets! He is a local astrologer with the Faculty Diploma (D.F.Astrol.S). He offers client consultations, teaches and lectures in astrology. Julian has written a novel about William Lilly.
Part Two:

Phoebe’s afternoon workshop will be primarily experiential and offer a personal encounter with the Saturn and Uranus archetypes here and now. Moving away from words and concepts through guided visualisation, physical enactment and interactive exercises, we’ll descend to a deeper place in ourselves to directly experience the feel of the clash of these two powerful cosmic forces. In the second part of the afternoon we’ll take examples from the charts of those present which illustrate how the Saturn-Uranus square in transit is manifesting in their lives. Hopefully we’ll discover how to avoid the more destructive manifestations of the Saturn-Uranus encounter, and find some life-enhancing ways of integrating their very different and very intense energies.
Phoebe Wyss is a Hove astrologer with 40 years experience in giving consultations, courses and workshops and is an experienced public speaker. She also trained to be a past-life therapist back in the 1980s in Germany, and for many years combined regression work with natal astrology in her practice. 21 September: Psyche and Symbol: Astrology, Art, and the Chart with Claudia Bader

Psychoaesthetics is the study of how psyche expresses through the arts. The psyche speaks to us through art in line, form, colour, images and archetypes; and these elements have astrological correlates. Richly illustrated with examples of artists (famous and not), a result of over 25 years of research on art elements, psychology, and astrology, we’re going to look at the specific art characteristics of the signs and planets to see how someone’s astrology and psychology shows in their art.

7 September: Unlock the Secrets of the Moon Phases with Robyn Ray

Understanding the Phases of the Moon enriches our Astrological knowledge and helps us to predict and Time Events in the future. Why, when we are watching the Transits to a Chart, do we also need to follow the current Moon Phase? How are we able to know and understand where we are in a particular Story and how do we link the different events together? What does a First Quarter and Last Quarter Moon really mean? Can we begin to understand how events will play out as we watch these Moon Phases develop? Why do Transits also need a Moon Phase? What periods are going to be important both in our own lives and in World events, as they unfold?
Robyn will explain this system, which is simple and easy to use.
Robyn Ray, DFAstrolS, RCAstrol, STA, FAPAI has been an Astrologer since the late eighties, firstly qualifying with the Faculty of Astrological Studies, followed by a Counselling Diploma based on Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology. 20 July: The Role of Light in Astrology – A Cosmology of Light, Vision and Reflection with Michael Ofek

In this lecture Michael will share the fruits of his longtime research into the cosmological structure of astrology based on the principle of light. Ancient astrology has a rich tapestry of concepts revolving around light, characterizing astrological dynamics in terms of relationships of light and dark, vision and reflection, with many elements defined and measured by their differing quality and magnitude of light. The lecture will explore the primary role of light, philosophically and practically, and show how it’s embedded in astrological symbolism, and how to interpret it through the many layers of chart delineation.
Michael Ofek is a professional neo-traditional astrologer, philosopher, astral magician, and shamanic practitioner from Israel. He has been practicing astrology and magic for more then two decades, avidly researching all branches of the ancient tradition, with an emphasis on Hellenistic astrology and its connection with Greco-Egyptian cosmology, philosophy, theurgy, and magic. His passion lies in unveiling and reconstructing the conceptual roots of the tradition, and the practical re-figuring of these ancient arts. Michael is an international speaker, and gives workshops and lectures worldwide, including magical retreats. He is the co-founder of the Israeli professional astrology magazine “Urania”, which also produces yearly conferences and workshops.
6 July: Lunar Applications and Separations with Israel Ajose

The Moon is said to represent our emotions, mother and how receptive we are. While all the above is true, this powerful feminine luminary may have a lot more to say about our lives than that. Moon signs, house placements, aspects, sect, condition and phases all point towards our physical circumstances, experiences and wellbeing in this physical world. In this lecture we will be exploring how the Moon in our natal charts encompasses all of our life’s experiences and stories of past, present and to come.

Astrology workshop – Saturday 18 June: Astrology Day with Roy Gillett – The Method and Importance of Mundane Astrology

A whole day to discover how to use astro-cycles to restore healing control of our lives and our world.
We will learn many ways of calculating and presenting astrological cycles. Then consider the astrology of contemporary and likely future events, seeing how we could heal negative natural and human behaviour. Having identified the astro-cycle background, we will consider the development of both mundane and personal charts [maybe yours] and share ways to harness astro-cycle knowledge to get back control of our lives and our world for the better.
- How historical cycles help us understand present and future times – examples using the interactive cycles of Jupiter to Pluto.
- How inner planets help us understand the flow of the year – studying examples of the annual /bi-annual cycles of the inner planets and their interaction with the outers.
- How fast-moving points trigger actual events – studying The Moon, angles, Fortuna and midpoints in specific occurrences.
- Better times ahead

15 June: Encountering the Archetypes in Astrology with Becca Tarnas

What is an archetype, and how does it relate to astrology? This presentation will introduce the theory of archetypes from a philosophical and psychological perspective, exploring a lineage that extends from Plato in ancient Greece through C.G. Jung in 20th century Switzerland, to the contemporary disciplines of transpersonal psychology, participatory spirituality, and archetypal astrology. Learning to perceive the archetypal principles in the particulars of everyday life can deepen any astrological practice, and be applied methodologically to any branch of astrology.
Becca Tarnas, PhD, is a scholar, artist, and editor of Archai: The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology. She received her doctorate in Philosophy and Religion from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), with her dissertation titled The Back of Beyond: The Red Books of C. G. Jung and J. R. R. Tolkien. Her research interests include depth psychology, archetypal studies, literature, philosophy, and the ecological imagination. She teaches at both Pacifica Graduate Institute and CIIS, and is the author of the book Journey to the Imaginal Realm: A Reader’s Guide to J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Becca lives in Northern California, where she has an astrological counselling practice.
1 June: In Honour of Her Majesty with Pam Carruthers

On the eve of the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pam Carruthers explores the Queen’s chart and key times in her life. With Capricorn rising and Saturn in Scorpio on her midheaven the Queen’s life is dedicated to service. She also has the North Node of the Moon in Cancer conjunct Pluto, so the transits of Pluto are highly relevant.
Key charts will include:
- The Abdication of her uncle King Edward VIII in December 1936 which propelled her into being second in line to the throne.
- The chart of King George VI, her father and his sudden death on February 6th 1952 when she become Queen.
- The chart of the Coronation on June 2nd 1953 when she was anointed and changed from “a woman to a goddess”. It has Regulus the Royal Star rising at the start of the ceremony.
- The chart of February 6th 2022 and the relevance of the eclipses in Taurus and Scorpio which closely affects both her and Prince Charles’s charts.
- The Solar Eclipse October 25th 2022 and the Lunar Eclipse on November 8th.
- Along with the actual eclipses the transiting nodes are of special significance as they transit from 29 degrees Taurus on January 1st to 10 degrees Taurus by the end of the year.

18 May: Sacred Astronomy as Taught by our Mysterious Glyphs with Gemini Brett

The symbols we use in modern times to represent the Signs are veiled vows to the marriage of Heaven and Earth. Though I cannot say when the sign glyphs arrived on our scene, this presentation will reveal them to be undeniable devices of tropical astronomy. As we journey into the shadows of these sigils’ mysteries, we will find fascinating light that shines upon a potential need for us to reframe our zodiacal heritage and, therefore, the very history of astrology.
Gemini Brett’s terrestrial translations of the celestial conversation expressed through the ancient arts of sacred geometry, musical harmony, embodied astronomy, and number magic activate seasoned sages as much as they initiate students new to the cosmic curriculum. He is a world-renowned astrologer, shamanic StarryTeller, and inspiring educator best known for his devotion to reconnecting astrologers with the sacred astronomy of the living sky. Brett’s passion, dedication, and innovation were recently honoured by the Organization for Professional astrology who presented him with the 2020 Orion Award for Outstanding Contribution to Astrology.

4 May: Do You Have What it Takes to Change the World? Astrological Mavericks with Michael Bartlett

Some of us are walking billboards for the planets. We wear their mark in a way that is simultaneously unseen by us, yet seen by everyone else. If you or someone you know has a planet conjunct one of the birth chart’s angles, this is a big billboard and the mark is not easily washed away. Planets conjunct the AS/DS and/or MC/IC are super powered archetypal energies expressed in a person’s life. Michael will present observations from research for his book Astrological Mavericks which illustrate the dramatic effects such conjunctions make in an individual’s life and how they impact society and thereby change the world. Surprising examples of both negative and positive expression will be illustrated for the 48 placements for each planet -not just the standard offering of two where sign and house blend. His book covers the 12 signs with 11 planets (includes Chiron!) through the four angles for a total of 528 astrological positions. Join us on 4 May 2022 for a lively and informative talk presenting anecdotal evidence from the lives of numerous mavericks who have and continue to change our world. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion.

20 April: The Houses and Health with Wanda Sellar

The First House and Sixth House are linked to health respectively the body and sickness. We’ll be looking at the basic constitution and how to judge its strength and weakness. However, all houses have an influence on the body and health, those conditions making themselves known by the signs and planets therein of course. The traditional and psychological meaning of the houses can sometimes be the underlay to illness. One theory is that most of our illnesses stem from thwarted desires, misconceptions, fears and repressed emotions.

16 March: The Art of Astrological Relationship Counseling: Six Vignettes with Greg Bogart

Astrology is a beacon in the relational sphere, shedding light on patterns of relating, the phases and seasons of relationships. Knowledge of my own astrological profile and consideration of the natal traits and current challenges of spouses, friends, and family members aids us in creating more emotionally fulfilling and more committed relationships with others. In this presentation we’ll look at examples of how astrological work can aid an individual’s or a couple’s understanding of relational experiences and patterns of behaviour. We learn how relationships have been damaged; we envision ways they might be repaired. Rather than emphasizing synastry (chart comparison) and composite charts, this presentation focuses delineating the individual charts and the challenges and tasks each person is facing as a means to heal and harmonize relationships. We’ll discuss the power astrology has to transform consciousness and behaviour in the relational sphere, enhancing our lives in the home and workplace.
Greg Bogart, PhD, MFT, has practiced astrology professionally since 1981 and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who utilizes astrology in his work as a psychotherapist. He is also a lecturer in psychology at Sonoma State University. 2 March: Retrograde Planets: the Intricate Dance with Patricia Godden

Much inner work is done while a planet is retrograde. During a retrograde period, deeper levels of that planet’s energies rise from the subconscious to manifest in conscious awareness. As the different stages of the retrograde phase each play a role in this process, understanding it helps in the interpretation of natal horoscopes. Recognising the different stages of retrogradation in progressions and transits can help a person make the most of these cycles. Mandalas are used to illustrate the variation in retrograde periods throughout the orbit of each planet.

16 February: The Outer Planets and the New Paradigm with Nick Oakley-Smith

With Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus, we are seeing a breaking down of the material side of life and our identification with it. At the same time Neptune is dissolving the structures of our current thinking. What might be emerging from this changing context? Gender, Covid, the Environment, Virtual reality, there are many ingredients in the soup. What insights does astrology bring and what might happen when the planets make a trine and 2 sextiles in fire and air in 2025?
Nick Oakley-Smith has been a practising astrologer and student of the I-Ching for over 35 years. He pretends to be a leadership coach in international businesses whilst introducing business leaders globally to both astrology and the I-Ching. He has talked regularly at local UK astrology groups, the AA conference and the Dutch AA conference.
2 February: Past Life Patterns in the Birth Chart with Phoebe Wyss

In this talk Phoebe will introduce her take on karmic astrology based on her experiences as a past-life regression therapist. It repeats the subject of our successful in-person workshop held in Hove last November for a wider audience. Phoebe writes: “In 1986, while working as an astrologer in Germany, I was curious about the newly introduced past-life therapy and booked a session for myself. What I experienced immediately illustrated the meaning of my South Node in the 8th house in Aries, which I’d never understood. I was so impressed I signed up to train as a past life therapist, and afterwards for many years combined regression therapy with natal astrology in my work. This gave me wide experience of correlations between patterns in the natal charts of my clients and the past life experiences they recounted during their regression sessions.
I’ll be illustrating this with chart examples matched with extracts from the regression protocols of their owners, and will also attempt the experiment on Zoom of putting you, the audience, into a light trance so you can experience possible past life events to illuminate the karmic symbolism in your birth charts!”
19 January: Ideas and Composite Charts with Fernanda Paiva

Relationships are one of the greatest mysteries of all, why do we feel attracted to a certain person and repulsed by someone else? Why do some connections tend to activate different parts of ourselves, sometimes to the point where we feel like an entirely different person depending on who we are spending time with? In this talk we will be exploring potential answers to some of these questions through looking at the composite charts (also known as the ‘midpoint chart’), an astrological technique that became popular in the USA and UK in the 70’s.
Fernanda is originally from Brazil but has been living in the UK for the past 13 years.

Michael is a Tibetan Buddhist practitioner of 36 years, and The 17th Karmapa (Ogyen Trinley Dorje) gave him the name “Tenzin Nyima,” “Holder of the Sun.” This very special lecture presents an astrology based buddhist teaching AND an empowerment, as Michael shows us the difference between the traditional geocentric chart, the Karma Chart and what is called the Dharma Chart, the heliocentric chart.
Michael Erlewine has had several careers. As a musician, he was active in the Michigan folk scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1961 he hitchhiked with Bob Dylan, and had travelled to Greenwich Village, Venice, California, and San Francisco. He and his brother Dan founded a blues band called The Prime Movers. When the drummer left, they replaced him with Iggy Pop (James Osterberg), then 18 years old, giving him the nickname “Iggy”. Michael Erlewine and his band, the Prime Movers, were inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2015.
In 1977 Erlewine founded Matrix Software. He was the first person to program astrology on microcomputers and make astrological programs available to the astrological community. He began to study astrology in the early ’60’s. From 1972, he and his wife Margaret operated the Heart Center School, turning out thousands of students. He was a member of the Board of Directors of ARC, a Director of ACT, and a member of the AFA Research team. He was elected to the AFAN Steering Committee in 1994 and to the ISAR Board in 1995. Astrology workshop – 6 November: Past Life Patterns in Your Birth Chart
Experience the Perspective of Karmic Astrology in an In-person Study Day with Ana Isabel and Phoebe Wyss
Part One: Phoebe will introduce the theme of the day and report on her experiences with combining past-life regression therapy with natal astrology. Phoebe writes: “In 1986, while working as an astrologer in Germany, I was curious about the newly introduced past-life therapy and booked a session. What I experienced immediately illustrated the meaning of my south node in the 8th house in Aries, which I’d not understood before. I was so impressed I signed up to train as a past life therapist, and, afterwards, combined regression therapy with astrology in my work for many years. This gave me wide experience of how patterns in natal charts can correlate symbolically with the past life experiences their owners recounted during regression sessions. I’ll be presenting some of this material in the workshop, and will also offer you the experience of a regression into a past life, which, hopefully, will help to illuminate the karmic symbolism in your birth chart.”
Part Two: Ana Isabel will take over after the lunch break. She writes, “My interest in Past Lives developed even as I was learning about Astrology. I learned about Past Life Regression at the same time as I was learning the symbols of the Zodiac and planets. Then one day, I learned about the Moon’s Nodes and my two passions fused. Yet, I was practicing as a Psychological Astrologer for a number of years before training as an analytical and clinical Hypnotherapist. Then came my training as a Past Life and Life Between Life Regressionist. The birth chart took on deeper meanings as I began to see it as the story of the Soul’s path. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to look at your Soul’s journey as I give you readings of Pluto’s place as well as that of the Nodes in your chart. You will have the opportunity to discuss your experiences in small groups sharing the same or similar planet positions, so that you can see how these themes manifest in your and other people’s lives.”
3 November: The Yogas of Vedic Astrology: Special Planetary Combinations A Virtual Talk with Richard Fidler

One of the most intriguing and useful features of Jyotish is its vast canon of ‘Yogas’ and associated aphorisms. The word ‘yoga’ essentially means to join or unite, and here can be translated as an astrological combination or ‘union of factors’ with specific implications. The Yogas of Jyotish are the fruit of centuries of observation, codified into a rich body of lore regarding the effects of several hundreds of possible permutations of the heavens. Even if you’re not particularly interested in studying Vedic astrology, the core rules and principles of Western and Vedic astrology are so similar that in many instances the logic behind these Yogas can offer Western astrologers valuable food for thought.
Richard Fidler is a professional astrologer and teacher with more than 30 years of experience in the field. He has served the as the chairperson of the Cape Town based Cape Astrology Association, and has contributed as both a speaker and organizer at several international astrology conferences. His work has been published in journals such as the Mountain Astrologer Magazine, the Astrological Journal (UK), and several others, including political forecasts in mainstream publications such as Business Insider.
Richard’s practice is an eclectic combination of Western and Vedic astrology. He believes both systems have a lot to teach each other, and so he regularly shares insights from Vedic astrology with Westerners, and effective techniques of Western astrology in India. Richard was recently appointed ISAR’s Global Director for the UK. He currently resides in Oxfordshire.
20 October: The Music of your Spheres A Virtual Talk with Julian Venables

In this talk Julian will present to you what he believes is the bridge between traditional astrology and modern psychological astrology, a theory that opens up a whole new enlightening vista of how we as a global community practice astrology. Astrology has been referred to as the ‘Divine Science’ or the ‘Science of Light’ (Jyotish), but do we properly comprehend Divine Light and its connection to the Creation? What if we allowed ourselves the simplest change of perspective that will work wonders, and thus experience real magic? Robert Zoller quote: “The complete study of astrology, therefore, consists of not merely digging up the writings of the ancients and assiduously studying them, but penetrating their inner meaning and rediscovering their perceptual mode. We must ultimately see the world as the ancients did if we are to understand their metaphysics.” Julian will open a door of perception for you to see astrology through, which he firmly believes all the ancient astrologers practised from. This talk might well create more questions than answers, but you’ll have a great evening which will include the real opening of your third eye… and an incredible explanation of transits and aspects.
6 October: Black Moon Lilith Transits: Microphysics of Time A Virtual Talk with Vanessa Guazzelli

How to work with Black Moon Lilith in time? How to interpret its transits? BML points to what psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan called the Real, the rawest dimension of experience – beyond words and images, the underlying current of sensations. And it is Black Moon Lilith who rules the microphysics of time. Addressing the principles for its interpretation, we will look into the collective transits of this visceral and sublime astrological point, Black Moon Lilith.
Subtopics: Black Moon Lilith interpretation, mean node vs. oscillating node, time periods for BML in transit, mythological reference for BML transits, fundamental tips for BML in personal transits, BML in collective transits through each of the 12 signs.
Vanessa Guazzelli is an Italian-Brazilian astrologer and psychoanalyst, currently based on an island of the South Atlantic. 1 September: Where does the Great Conjunction Cycle begin? – A Virtual Talk with Gary Caton
Persian astrologer Abu Masar said the most important Mundane chart was the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in the first part of Aries. But he then said the second most important chart is the “Great Mutation” into a new element. Why is the first one sign based and the second one element based? Is it possible the first conjunction in a Fire sign is more important than the conjunction in the first part of Aries? My research suggests this is true.
Furthermore, detailed examination of the ~800 year cycle of Great Conjunctions through the four elements over a broad expanse of 12 cycles (over 10 Millennium) reveals a fascinating shift, singular within that vast expanse of time. The 1603 conjunction that was rising over London was the first ever conjunction in Sagittarius to begin the fiery trigon. Does this shift represent a demarcation point between Aeons? The historical record indicates some important people of that time seemed to think so. We’ll formulate some initial thoughts on this astounding possibility and look at ways this cycle definitively needs further examination.
Gary P Caton is an Hermetic practitioner integrating diverse traditions, art forms and practices gathered from his spiritual quest over a full Saturn cycle. Initiated an astrologer by a magnificent dream in 1993, he’s since become an accomplished counselor, writer, podcaster, teacher, photographer and mage. 18 August: Mystical Saturn: A Planet for All Ages – A Virtual Talk with Acyuta- bhava Das (Adam Elenbaas)

When the planet Neptune was seen for the very first time through a telescope, it was conjunct Saturn. In this talk, we shall explore the symbolism of Saturn across the ages, while also exploring the possibility that the ancient Saturn is just as mystical and other- worldly as any of the modern, outer planets – including Neptune!
Acyuta-bhava Das (Adam Elenbaas) is a professional astrologer, author, and yoga instructor/studio owner from the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Adam holds an M.A. and MFA in Creative Writing. His first book, a Publisher’s Weekly top book of the year, called Fishers of Men: The Gospel of an Ayahuasca Vision Quest was published by Tarcher/Penguin in 2010. 4 August: The Astrological Neptune – the Ancient Cult of Water – A Virtual Talk with Cate Reidy

Astrologically, Neptune is traditionally associated with the element of water, the sign of Pisces and also the 12th house. However, in studying a horoscope, we consider its watery presence in any one of the houses and signs, and weigh up its influence on various planets, angles, nodes and other sensitive degrees within the birth-chart. In doing so, we discover how Neptune has a full range of metaphorical presentations, from that of a wellspring, a fast moving current, and even a flood. And, during those times of personal transition when previous structures in our lives are plunged into deep waters, the experience of just ‘holding one’s head above water’ is a common one. Afterwards, such structures end up dissolved, cleansed or washed away, by which time, a sensitivity to new insights – frequently communicated in our dreams – have been ushered in, along with a tidal change and possibilities of new beginnings. During this talk, Cate will consider the ancient ‘Cult of Water’ – a spiritual tradition rich in symbolism, still relevant for today – and how we might understand Neptune’s presence within the horoscope from both psychological and spiritual perspectives.
Cate Reidy is a psycho-spiritual astrologer with a special interest in transpersonal transitions including awakenings. Having originally trained in traditional, psychological, and transpersonal approaches, her long-held interest in this branch of Astrology, stems from many years experience of working in mental health, homelessness projects and addiction treatment settings, as well as in private practice. And further, from many years exploring archetypal patterning communicated in dreams; inherited patterns in family histories, and pre-rebirth narratives. Cate’s approach reflects sensitivity to spiritual/mental/emotional challenges occurring during those times when the ‘emerging self’ awakens. She has a deep respect for the creative resources underpinning each individual’s patterning and their inbuilt capacity to regulate their own well-being. In addition to her astrological work, she is a Jungian Sand Play practitioner, a director at Spiritual Crisis Network (SCN), and a Folklorist – a member of the Folklore Society. She is currently undergoing sensitivity training at the College of Psychic Studies in London – a work in progress and a privilege. For more information, visit: www.catereidy.uk
21 July: Karmic Echoes

If we look at three generations of birth charts within a family, we will see synchronic astrological links. The same and repeating four to five Zodiac signs, playing out between the Sun, Moon, Ascendant and Mid-heaven. Strong links between first and third generations e.g. grandparents and grandchildren seem especially emphasised. It appears these connections weave as karmic threads through the generations. It raises the question of do unresolved areas of parents birth charts pass to their children, grandchildren. Are we simply patterns of energy seeking to resolve ourselves ? Do we enter our lives through our Ascendant into a soul group, that will enable us to expand our consciousness, until we no longer need to return here in a physical form ? Or are we so attached within our personal family ancestry, that the process of entering and departing this Earth plane, is about continuing evolving and teaching our family members?
Jean Maclean B.A. is a qualified teacher and an experienced, practising astrologer of over 40 years. Having taught in state and further education all her working life, she brings learned skills in communicating ideas and information. Her Aries Sun is in her 3rd House and Jupiter in Sagittarius in her 11th House. She facilitates the South Downs Astrology Circle that meets monthly at her home in Eastbourne. With Covid, astrology topics are now discussed in weekly Zoom sessions with other East Sussex astrologers. She has a regular flow of clients and also gives astrology lessons to students.
“ My astrology journey began in childhood, growing up in Somerset. My father took me outside on starry nights showing me the star groups and constellations. The wonder of the those skies was magic, and by the age of twenty one, I was studying and researching astrology “
Courses, workshops and study with The White Eagle Lodge, Liz Greene, Jonathan Cainer and other astrologers, were important learning. In the eighties, she facilitated the weekly meet-ups of astrologers in the Medway Towns. She created and organised two landmark spiritual festivals in Whitstable, Lightwaves 2011 and Lightwaves 2012. Jean completed an introductory course in Astronomy at Herstmonceux Observatories, adding depth to her astrology insights. She is at present researching ancestry and astrological patterns.

2 June: Interacting with the Four Elements; the Mythic Forces of the Greek Philosophers – A Virtual Talk with Julian Venables

At this current juncture of human evolution, we must remember the importance of elemental thinking when comprehending and responding to ecological problems. If we use the four element consciousness and language, we can engage directly with the world to evoke many kinds of wonder – sensuous, poetic, cognitive, scientific, reverential. Whatever you’ve felt, and whether you’ve followed that call or not, that is the work of your personal daimon. The daimon goes by many names and guises. For some, it’s their Holy Guardian Angel. 21 April: The Venus/Sun Cycle – A Virtual Talk with Angela Cornish

Venus whether evening star, Vesper, or morning star, Lucifer, shines brightly like a diamond in our sky. As the Sun’s consort, she dances provocatively around him; never too far in front (occidental) or too far behind (oriental). But does, as the ancients believed, the Sun/Venus cycle contribute to our understanding of relationship issues in horary charts?
Angela Cornish has practised and taught astrology in classes, talks and workshops for many years. Her special interests are horary and forecasting techniques. She holds a Diploma of the Mayo School of Astrology and the STA Diploma of Traditional Horary Astrology. She is currently Secretary to the Astrological Association of Great Britain and Secretary of the Association of Professional Astrologers International. She was honoured with the Charles Harvey award for Exceptional Services to Astrology in 2018.

Astrology is famous for promising enlightening insights about love: sun sign compatibility, chart comparison (also known as synastry), composite charts… There are a myriad of different techniques that promise revealing the amount of compatibility between people. But how do they work? Is it really possible to tell from 2 astrology charts if their owners would get along or not? In this talk we will be having fun exploring some of these techniques and using a few examples in order to understand compatibility astrology a bit further (to make the most of this evening, a basic understanding of astrology is required).

3 March: How Medieval Astrologers Knew What You Really Wanted – A Virtual Talk with Chris Mitchell

The twelfth century saw a huge translation movement in Western Europe, when Arabic texts were translated into Latin for the first time. The 12th-century scholar Roger of Hereford was teaching schoolkids some pretty sophisticated astrology based on these texts, including some techniques to find out what the client *really* wanted, in his book of “Intentions”. Knowing what the client’s intention in visiting the astrologer might almost be considered an early version of psychological astrology – just as a modern astrologer might draw up a consultation chart.
17 February: Chasing the Dragon: Draconic Astrology and Finding the Life Purpose – A Virtual Talk with Victor Olliver

Draconic (or nodal) astrology is an ancient Babylonian system which identifies a person’s soul purpose in this life. The birth (or event) chart is reset by moving the North Node to the start of Aries, creating a Moon-referenced chart to be read by the side of the tropical (Sun-referenced) natal chart. Victor will examine the charts of Greta Thunberg, Meghan and Harry, Heddy LaMarr, Queen Victoria and many more, including his own, in demonstrating the amazing accuracy of this little-known system.
Victor Olliver has been editor of the Astrological Association’s membership magazine, The Astrological Journal, for over six years. And he also writes the stars column for The Lady magazine. He has a distinction diploma in mundane and natal astrology from the Mayo School of Astrology. Before becoming a full-time astrologer with a prestigious clientele, he was an award-winning feature writer and editor and his many interviews and features appeared in such publications as Marie Claire, Woman’s Journal, The Sunday Times Magazine and The Times. He lives in West Sussex, UK. His website: victorolliver.co.uk.
3 February: Astrological Mavericks – A Virtual Talk with Michael Bartlett

Some of us are walking billboards for the planets. We wear their mark in a way that is simultaneously unseen, yet seen by all. If you or someone you know has a planet conjunct one of the birth chart’s angles, this is a big billboard and the mark is not likely washed away. Planets conjunct the AS/DS and/or MC/IC are super powered archetypal energies expressed in a person’s life. Michael will present observations from research for his book Astrological Mavericks which illustrate the dramatic effects such placements make in an individual’s life and how they impact society and thereby change the world. Surprising examples of both negative and positive expression will be illustrated for the 48 placements for each planet -not just the standard two of sign and house. Join us on Wednesday 3 February 2021 for a lively and informative talk presenting anecdotal evidence from the lives of numerous mavericks who continue to change our world. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion.

20 January: Celebrating the Venus Shamanic Cycle and the Influential Women of the Year – A Virtual Talk with Pam Carruthers

From Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Greta Thunberg, from Jacinda Arden to Kamala Harris, 2020 has seen the remarkable rise of women in the news and taking centre stage. Looking at the charts of some of these influential women of 2020, Pam will explore which Venus Shamanic Archetype they embody. When Venus is 10 degrees ahead of the Sun while still retrograde, it is rising as a Morning Star. This is called the heliacal rise and shamanic astrology calls this “The Shamanic Overtone.” Venus rose as a Morning Star on June 10 2020 and began a new 19 month cycle, so we are currently in the Shamanic Overtone of Gemini.
When Venus is retrograde she conjuncts the Sun in only five signs of the Zodiac in a lifetime! From 1966 through 2047 these are Aries; Scorpio; Gemini; Capricorn; Leo/Virgo. In this presentation find out which if these is your Shamanic Overtone.
2021 sees Venus change direction to become an Evening Star. Key Dates to watch are when Venus disappears from the morning sky on February 13th at 15 degrees Aquarius. Venus then meets with the Sun on 25th March at 6 degrees Aries. Venus rises as an Evening Star on May 3rd at 24 degrees Taurus. While Venus is invisible you may find you are less inclined to be social. Venus will begin her retrograde period on December 19th 2021 in Capricorn conjunct Pluto and start a new Morning Star Shamanic Cycle on January 13th 2022 at 15 degrees Capricorn.
Pam Carruthers is a qualified professional Vedic and Western astrologer. She works from a spiritual perspective and is a student of A Course in Miracles. 6 January: How Astrology is Becoming the New ‘Lingua Franca’ of the Emerging Consciousness Revolution – A Virtual Talk with Steve Judd

Coinciding with the technological evolution of recent decades, astrology is increasingly becoming the ‘go to’ option for people wanting to get a different perspective on their place in an ever changing world. Synchronistically, the acceleration of evolution on planet Earth can be mapped using both astrology and consciousness evolution as metaphors for the startling changes happening on the planet we inhabit. By using astrology as a referential and psychological tool to understand our past with increasing confidence, we can project forward with stronger surety to estimate the potentials for the near and even distant future. This workshop will look at the role of astrologers at this time and ask the question whether or not they have an ethical and/or moral responsibility to provide an alternative vision from a more objective, detached and impersonal perspective.
Steve Judd is an astrologer with 40 years experience, bringing astrology to the world. He works on character analysis, location and relationship issues, past explanation, present expansion and future exploration. After leaving the army at twenty, Steve found his first astrological book in 1977 and then spent a decade learning astrological basics. He is totally self-taught. Since then, he expanded his ability by doing many thousands of chart readings. Steve has considerable experience on local media and has appeared on national TV. In 1994, after many years working in the Glastonbury Festival Green Fields, Steve was a founding member of the Big Green Gathering. In July 2005 he was awarded the Master of Arts Degree in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the Sophia Centre, Bath Spa University, making him at the time only the thirteenth person in the world to hold that qualification.
