December 2nd: The Fifth House and the Creative Imagination

A Talk by Carole Taylor
The 5th house is the idealised world of the child, encompassing all forms of creative expression, from the delight of the dressing-up box to the drama of pregnancy and childbirth.
As the house of theatre, it has a mythic and timeless quality – here we have both ‘plays’ and ‘play’, a world outside of ordinary life. It is a place where the light of the Sun is reflected, where we seek admiration, and where imagination connects us to the divine spark.
The psychologist Rollo May said that creativity is a yearning to reach beyond our death, an idea which sits well with the notion of the 5th as a house where creative output offers us a measure of immortality.
Carole Taylor, BA, FFAstrolS is Director of Studies and Summer School Organiser at the Faculty of Astrological Studies, as well as a tutor on its distance learning courses and classes in London. She is currently engaged in co-tutoring a series of eight-day courses for Heaven & Earth Workshops in Bali and Goa, and is completing a Masters in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred at Canterbury Christ Church. She runs an astrological practice in West Sussex.
