Astrology Day: Venus and Mars: The Lovers
Date: March 7th 2015 Time: 10am-4.15pm
Do you want a better understanding of your relationships?
Venus and Mars are the feminine and masculine energies in our charts and what we attract and desire in the opposite sex. This year Venus and Mars join together 3 times in the sky, an event that last happened way back in 2008!
Come along on this Astrology day and immerse yourself in the stories and charts of Venus and Mars- the Lovers.
Trav Travers:
Traditional View of Venus and Mars
The goddess of love and the god of war, that’s Venus and Mars. They represent our Passions and our Bestial Nature respectively. They are normally regarded as a pair but are actually of opposite astrological principles. From the traditional perspective we will examine them both separately and together, in a variety of ways in a variety of charts.
Please note that Trav uses whole sign houses when looking at charts.
Trav Travers has been running his traditional astrology group “The Astrological Explorers” for several years, based in Sussex, looking at Natal, Mundane, Electional and Horary astrology through the ages, based on traditional source texts.
His interest in astrology originally started in childhood. A devotee and advocate of traditional astrology since 1990, Trav has studied with many well known traditional astrologers. He holds workshops, lectures and talks and still ‘does charts’.
Julian Venables: Mars in Mythology and Through the Zodiac
Julian gives a comprehensive overview of Mars; its mythology, placement by sign and in aspect. He will then look at the charts and synastry of some famous couples.
He asks- “What do you need to know about Mars to have a better understanding of your relationships?”
Julian Venables is a Hove astrologer with a Faculty Diploma. He writes daily horoscopes on www.uinterview.com and has just published his first novel ‘The Astrologer’s Apprentice’.

Pam Carruthers: Venus and the Goddess- The Gates of Initiation

Pam will look at the Venus Synodic Cycle and its connection with the myth of Inanna, the Queen of Heaven. Inanna descends to the Underworld and at 7 gates is stripped of her power and killed.
We can associate the conjunctions Venus makes each month with the Moon, with the 7 gates (or chakras) that Inanna passes through. The first corresponds to the crown chakra (she gives up her crown) and the last to the root, or sacral chakra (she gives up her life).
Venus is now transformed from her initiation with the Sun last year, and sets as an Evening Star. Over the next months she meets with the waxing Moon returning through the seven ‘gates’ in the reverse order as she regains her vestments and symbols of power.
See how this works in the charts of the rise and fall of some famous people.
STOP PRESS!!!
After the success of Wolf Hall Pam will be looking at the Venus cycle in the chart of Henry VIII and the love affair that went so badly wrong wih Anne Boleyn.
