Our Spring Astrology Day will offer three talks on this theme by three professional astrologers: Phoebe Wyss, Julian Venables and Avril Price
As Above so Below: The Magic of Hermes Trismegistus
A Talk by Phoebe Wyss

The figure of Hermes Trismegistus arose from a fusion of Egyptian Thoth, the god of writing and magic, said to be the originator of all knowledge on earth and in heaven, and the Greek god Hermes. The legend that Thoth had dictated magical books that contain all his occult knowledge explains the fascination the Hermetic books have always held for philosophers, magicians and astrologers. The writings, which originated in the Egyptian temples, were very likely translated into Greek after being removed by the Greeks to the great library of Alexandria. Phoebe will show how an ancient cosmology can be found in them containing the system of correspondences on which our astrology is based, which amazingly is also very much in line with some of today’s progressive scientific thinking.
Phoebe Wyss is a Hove astrologer with 36 years experience in giving consultations, courses and workshops and is an experienced public speaker. She’s published an astrology board game, two books on the astrological archetypes and her latest book on archetypal astrology and the new paradigm was published in 2014. See www.astrophoebe.com
Time is Magic and Magic is Time
A Talk with Julian Venables

The passing of time is a magical process in itself: how would the world be if western civilization changed its perspective from linear time to cyclical time? Plato wrote about and philosophized his awareness of cyclical time, saying “Time is a moving image of eternity” (quote from the Timaeus).
In astrology doing something at the right place and the right time is known as the art of electional astrology. Elections make up a important part of the astrologers toolbox, how else could we decide to do things when moving forwards if we didn’t look at the planetary line-ups? They are also used in the making of Talismans, and these can be pieces of jewellery turned into items containing magical power. Elections also help in knowing when to do something; you can bend the rules of time, creating opportunities where there were none before. Especially when adding in Astro-Carto-Graphy…

Tarot and the Sacred Art of Manifestation
A Talk with Avril Price

In this interactive talk, Avril will take you through each of the Major Arcana Tarot cards and their planetary significators. Each card has its own archetypal persona which corresponds to a particular planet. Avril will be discussing how we can harness the energy of the archetypes and correspondences to gain insight to the meaning of the Major Arcana and how we can work with them to bring about that which is needful, relevant and beneficial. We are all Magicians, we can and do make things happen. Insight to these soul cards can sharpen up our ability to manifest that which is in alignment with our true reality and purpose.
